From enhancing existing transportation networks to pioneering new mobility solutions, our expertise helps shape a future where safe, efficient, and accessible mobility improves the quality of life in the communities we serve. The Roads and Highways Practice is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Client Team Leader in Denver, CO.This role leads the delivery of complex transportation projects across Colorado while also serving as a business-development focused Client Team Leader for key Roads and Highways clients. On a daily basis, this person will manage project delivery responsibilities, engage directly with clients and stakeholders, and help grow DEA’s presence by identifying opportunities, shaping pursuit strategy, strengthening client relationships, and expanding work with strategic transportation clients. They will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to keep projects on track in terms of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and profitability while also maintaining a forward-looking view of client needs, funding priorities, pipeline opportunities, and market positioning. As a senior client-facing leader, this person will contribute to client experience, mentor project managers and technical staff, and help influence how work is pursued, won, delivered, and grown across the Colorado transportation market. What You’ll DoKey Responsibilities:Lead and manage Roads and Highways projects from pursuit through delivery and closeout Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring a consistent, high-quality client experience Deliver projects on time, within budget, and aligned with quality and profitability expectations Manage project setup, scope, schedule, budget, and contract execution Oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, cost-to-complete forecasting, and overall financial performance Coordinate and lead multi-disciplinary project teams and subconsultants across complex projects Lead and support business development efforts, including client strategy, opportunity identification, pursuit positioning, proposal development, teaming decisions, and expansion of existing client relationships in the Colorado market Develop and maintain client strategy plans that reflect client priorities, funding streams, upcoming opportunities, and long-term growth goals Maintain and grow a 12-month pipeline of targeted opportunities, including potential wins, selected-not-booked work, and client revenue forecasts Lead or contribute to go/no-go decisions, pursuit staffing, teaming partner recommendations, and color team review preparation for strategic pursuits Provide input on project staffing, team performance, and teaming partners Mentor and support the development of project managers and technical staff Collaborate closely with Market Leaders, marketers, and client teams to align pursuit strategy, pipeline development, and project delivery with client and market needs Support client profitability, favorable contract terms, project recovery efforts, client sales forecasting, and strong business outcomes across assigned clients and projects Provide coaching, mentorship and feedback to project managers and delivery teams on client expectations, project performance, and team effectiveness Represent DEA as one company by identifying opportunities to bring the right teams and services to client needs Represent DEA in the market through client meetings, industry involvement, thought leadership, and proactive relationship-building tied to long-term client strategy What You BringRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field Professional Engineer (PE) license required Willingness to become certified or provisionally certified through DEA’s Project Manager Program Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on Roads and Highways Demonstrated experience working with transportation clients and agencies in Colorado, including client-facing project leadership and coordination with local stakeholders Proven ability to manage project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability Experience leading client relationships, serving as a primary client contact, and growing work through trust-based client development Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities, supporting pursuit strategy, and contributing to successful proposals or client capture efforts Strong understanding of project delivery processes, including contracts, change management, and project controls Track record of delivering high-quality work and achieving strong client satisfaction Ability to balance project delivery, client satisfaction, financial performance, and business development goals in a consulting environment Preferred Qualifications:Direct experience delivering work for CDOT and/or local Colorado transportation agencies Established relationships with key Colorado transportation clients, especially CDOT, City and County of Denver, Aurora, Colorado Springs, and other Front Range agencies Experience leading business development efforts, including client strategy planning, pipeline reviews, go/no-go decisions, proposal development, pursuit positioning, and teaming decisions for transportation work Background in roadway, corridor, or major transportation infrastructure projects Experience collaborating closely with structures or bridge teams in an integrated delivery environment Prior experience working within a consulting engineering firm of similar scale and complexity with responsibility for both project delivery and client development Active involvement in industry organizations such as ASCE, ACEC, WTS, ITE, or similar groups Demonstrated ability to mentor project managers, guide delivery teams, and help strengthen client-facing performance Prior experience in a seller-doer, client account leadership, Client Team Leader, Client Service Leader, or similar hybrid project delivery and business
