About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Principal Product Manager to build the HTS API Marketplace — the commercial and developer-facing layer through which enterprise partners access Hopper's lodging and cars capabilities.
This is a true 0-to-1 role. You will be the person who defines the product: how capabilities are packaged and priced, how partners discover and integrate them, and how the marketplace evolves as a business platform. The underlying technical capabilities — connectivity orchestration, pricing and sorting, content mapping, extranet — are owned by dedicated capability teams. Your role is to work closely with those product managers (PMs) to understand, package, and commercially expose those capabilities as coherent, enterprise-grade API products.
We expect this PM to move fast and build scrappily. You should be comfortable with AI tools and vibe coding to prototype workflows, mock APIs, and test partner experiences before handing off to engineering. The ideal candidate will always reach for a prototype before a product requirements document (PRD).
You will collaborate with Engineering, Data Science, Commercial, Finance, and Supply teams — and coordinate closely with other PMs across the organization — to bring the marketplace from concept to a revenue-generating platform.
This role is fully remote.
Responsibilities
-
Define the HTS API Marketplace: structure, package, and price capabilities across a portfolio including HTS Connect, search polygons, autocomplete, ranking, content and property mapping, room mapping, deduplication/auction, pricing, extranet, taxes, and custom deals engine.
-
Coordinate with capability PMs: understand the roadmap, constraints, and customization possibilities of underlying technical systems, and translate them into externally-consumable API products.
-
Manage the commercial model: make decisions between platform fees and variable fees, define the take rate structure per capability, enterprise packaging, and the custom deals framework for large partners.
-
Build the developer and partner experience from scratch: API specifications, partner integration flows, documentation standards, sandbox environments, and integration tools that minimize time-to-value.
-
Use AI and rapid prototyping: test ideas quickly (API response simulations, partner portal prototypes) before committing engineering resources.
-
Establish the go-to-market strategy: identify the right partners, sequence launches, and define commercial success criteria.
-
Manage the marketplace P&L: model and track gross booking value (GBV), take rate, and profitability per capability in partnership with the Finance team.
-
Prioritize development phases: from in-progress work (HTS Connect, Taxes) to scoping-stage products (Content Mapping, Auction) to future capabilities (Search Polygons, Ranking, Extranet).
An ideal candidate has:
-
7+ years of experience in product management, with at least one product built from 0 to 1 (from concept to commercial launch).
-
Demonstrated experience building B2B or developer-facing marketplace products, including API product design and commercial packaging for enterprises.
-
AI-native working style: you use LLMs and vibe coding as first-line tools for prototyping. You have already designed working demos or proof-of-concepts (PoCs) using AI.
-
Strong understanding of marketplace economics: take rates, supply-side incentives, demand-side optimization, and variable vs. platform commercial models.
-
Cross-team coordination ability: synthesize roadmaps and ensure alignment without directly managing underlying engineering.
-
Experience with external enterprise partners: translate business needs into product requirements and manage expectations during multi-phase deployments.
-
SQL proficiency and experience with large-scale transactional datasets.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear API and product documentation.
Bonus:
-
Experience in travel commerce (lodging, cars, flights) or adjacent sectors such as fintech or advertising.
-
Knowledge of distribution systems (GDS, channel managers, online travel agency APIs).
-
Prior experience in engineering or data science.
This position requires proficiency in both French and English. The successful candidate will be required to communicate and collaborate on a regular basis with colleagues, managers, clients, suppliers, and business partners located outside Quebec, and to review, prepare, and use documentation, systems, and communications in both French and English. Knowledge of English is therefore necessary for the performance of the duties associated with the position and to meet operational and client requirements in an international business environment.
