We are hiring for an L3 Service Desk & Projects Engineer!

Job Description

  • Lead the resolution of high-priority and complex escalated incidents within SLA.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide detailed diagnostic reporting.
  • Architect, implement, and support advanced solutions across: Windows, macOS, O365, Azure, Entra ID, Exchange, Synology, Ubiquiti, Tailscale, 3CX, MDM.
  • Take ownership of critical infrastructure issues across networking, servers, VPNs, and endpoint hardware.
  • Act as final escalation for L2 engineers and coordinate resolution paths across teams.
  • Drive continual service improvement by owning documentation, KB articles (HTL), SOPs, and escalation playbooks.
  • Coach and upskill L1 and L2 staff, reinforcing best practices and technical standards.
  • Take lead technical responsibility for delivering client IT projects end-to-end.
  • Act as the senior point of contact in customer and third-party project liaison.
  • Produce client-ready documentation outlining infrastructure design, deployment procedures, and maintenance protocols.
  • Hybrid delivery model—expect onsite project work across the South and South West of the UK.

Base Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of macOS and iOS platforms, including deployment and management at scale.
  • Advanced administration of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune, and Teams.
  • High-level troubleshooting of SaaS platforms: Dropbox, OneDrive, Adobe CC, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Synology (NAS, replication, shared folders, snapshots)
    • DrayTek (legacy support)
    • Ubiquiti/UniFi (design, deployment, controller-level config, VLAN, firewalling)
    • 3CX (VoIP provisioning, SBC config, troubleshooting)
    • SD-WAN VPNs (e.g. Tailscale, ZeroTier)
    • MDM platforms (e.g. Mosyle) and scripting-based management.
  • Proven experience in designing and troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise network segmentation, firewall rulesets, and endpoint isolation practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of Entra ID (Azure AD), identity federation (SAML, OAuth), and SSO architecture.
  • Comfortable with endpoint and peripheral deployment and troubleshooting, including printer queues, IP phones, and client-based sync tools.
  • Able to plan and execute email migrations, mail flow configurations, and security hardening for email platforms.

Highly Advantageous Technical Skills

  • Experience designing and installing physical network infrastructure, including CAT5/6 cable terminations to RJ45 / patch panels, server cabinets, trunking data cables and mounting WiFi access points.
  • Experience deploying and administering cloud-based virtual Windows / Linux servers and Microsoft Remote Desktop / Citrix-style environments, Microsoft Azure and Proxmox virtualisation.
  • Experience designing and managing FileMaker (Claris) database solutions.
  • Bash / Shell scripting or any broadly equivalent transferrable knowledge in scripting and programming concepts to aid in our internal DevOps processes.
  • Experience in modern home automation design and implementation.

Working Conditions

  • 4-day working week as standard / 34 hours.
  • Six weeks (of a 4-day week) p/a annual leave allowance.
  • Generous Christmas / New Year working hours.
  • Mileage paid at 45p (own vehicle required).
  • The role is nominally based in Bath, Bristol or Exeter, but our client base is spread across the south and southwest; being based anywhere in that region would be suitable if you are willing to travel to customer sites 2-3 days per week up to ~2 hours.
