Job Description
We are looking for a motivated student in their third/fourth year of an HBO/WO program in Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Technology, or a similar field.
Would you like to know what it is like to be part of one of the largest multinational companies in the pharmaceutical industry? We offer an internship within our Asset Management & Improvement department where you will be given freedom and space for your own initiative.
Intern – HBO/WO - Asset Management & Improvement
Welcome to our team
The Asset Management & Improvement and Indirect Procurement departments work closely together to reduce operational costs and increase sustainability. Asset Management & Improvement focuses on asset and energy management with the goal of optimizing operational costs and energy efficiency, and reducing CO2 emissions. Indirect Procurement is responsible for improving collaboration with suppliers and realizing cost-efficient procurement solutions.
Your internship assignment
As an intern, you will work on optimizing the operations of our Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). You will provide a concrete analysis and proposal for improvements in the areas of process management, energy use, and sustainability.
Your responsibilities
- Analysis of WWTP operations: you will investigate how the installation functions, identify critical constraints, and map out process flows.
- Analysis of energy consumption and discharge flows including transport: you will collect and analyze data on energy use and waste streams and determine which parameters influence these.
- Optimization proposals: you will develop concrete proposals to improve operations, energy use, and reduce operational costs. In doing so, you will incorporate sustainability perspectives such as CO2 emissions and the reduction of waste streams.
- Research into load management: you will investigate possibilities for applying load management in relation to grid congestion and peak avoidance.
- Fresh perspective and reporting: you will provide an independent view of the processes and share your findings and recommendations in a clear final report and presentation.
The described tasks form the basic package and will often be carried out independently after proper training and a learning period. These tasks can be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.
What is required
- Student in the third/fourth year of an HBO/WO program in Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Technology, or similar
- Familiarity with data analysis (Excel, Python, or similar), process analysis, and reporting.
- Competencies: proactive, good communication skills in Dutch and/or English, both written and verbal, and a team player
