Creative Media Intern

Part timeHybrid · Richmond, USA

About the Role

Summer 2025 | Paid | Part-Time (with Full-Time Potential) | Hybrid – Richmond, VA

Xponent21 is offering a hands-on, immersive internship for an emerging video editor who’s ready to bring ideas to life across screens, platforms, and media formats. This opportunity is designed for post-graduates or recent grads looking to build real-world experience in a fast-paced agency setting while supporting both client work and Xponent21’s in-house creative initiatives.

As our Creative Media Intern, you’ll play an integral role in producing compelling visual content that fuels both client success and the advancement of Xponent21’s internal initiatives — including Richmond Water, America’s Healthiest City, Channel RVA, and other in-house campaigns and brand efforts. You’ll collaborate closely with our Executive Producer and Creative Director to bring strategic visual stories to life across mediums.

This is a paid, part-time internship based in Richmond with hybrid flexibility. For the right candidate, this role has the potential to evolve into a permanent position on our creative team.

As an Xponent21 Creative Media Intern, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer and Creative Director to edit short-form and long-form video content for digital campaigns, social media, internal storytelling, and community-driven projects.
  • Participate in pre-production planning, including brainstorming sessions, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and shot list development.
  • Capture on-location video and photography at events, content days, and live activations.
  • Support visual content needs for both clients and internal brands through basic graphic design, motion graphics, and layout tasks.
  • Organize and manage creative assets, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines and deadlines.
  • Contribute to creative strategy sessions and participate in client or internal project meetings when applicable.

Skills Required

Applicants must provide a portfolio link showcasing original video editing and creative work.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Have earned a bachelor’s degree in film, media production, design, communications, or a related field.
  • Are proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Are comfortable with mobile-first tools like CapCut, Canva, and other social media editing platforms.
  • Have a strong eye for storytelling, pacing, rhythm, and brand-aligned visual design.
  • Are organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple creative projects simultaneously.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, and thrive in collaborative, feedback-rich environments.
  • Understand the fundamentals of brand identity and visual consistency across channels.

Desired Skills/Bonus Points (Not Required, But Valued)

  • Experience with animation, 3D, or motion graphics.

  • Familiarity with content creation for nonprofit or community impact campaigns.

  • Experience producing content for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, or similar social-first platforms.

  • Working knowledge of brand systems or multi-brand asset management.
