Reporting to an Ohio State Online Recruitment Director or Associate Recruitment Director and serving as a leader within the recruiting team, the Assistant Director of Online Recruitment plays a key role in shaping and accelerating online recruitment strategies, directing the development of a team of recruiters, and serving as a liaison between college and university personnel for online student recruitment.

The Assistant Director of Online Recruitment works with their team to provide leadership and direction of recruitment activities of individual recruiters for assigned online programs. This person will be an excellent salesperson who understands how to sell and convert prospective students on attending an online program at Ohio State. The Assistant Director will develop strategies for their assigned programs that work within existing recruitment strategies for student enrollment, communication to prospects who have expressed interest in an Ohio State online program and bring ideas to help evolve the admissions process to achieve enrollment goals.

This person will have a thorough understanding of student recruitment tactics to help implement processes to drive lead conversion. They will train their teams on different sales strategies and how to support prospects on their journey to enrolling in an online program. The Assistant Director will develop ways to ensure the prospect experience is always a positive one as their team works to engage prospects, qualify candidates, explain academic programs and assess a prospect’s fit with their stated program of interest. A critical component of this will be developing and tracking key performance indicators related to student recruitment. The Assistant Director will be expected to analyze and look for gaps within the recruitment funnel of their programs to drive continuous improvement. For new online programs, the Assistant Director will help identify what is needed to get the program ready to recruit new students and working within the enterprise to be ready to accept applications for the program.

The Assistant Director of Online Recruitment will work closely with their assigned online marketing team to ensure leads that are coming in are good quality as well as ways to help continue to encourage applicants to move through the application funnel. They will work closely with their assigned online reenrollment team as applicants confirm and become ready to enroll as students with any additional help these prospects may need or if they are choosing to defer their confirmation. This person will partner as needed with college partners and central admissions groups to ensure the online student fits into university processes and colleges understand what their potential student pool looks like.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required or 4 years’ relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree

5 years in sales, recruitment, communication or related field.

Experience in recruiting or sales, creating a positive prospective student experience, and working cross-functionally within an organization.

Broad knowledge and expertise in sales tactics, selling an expensive, nontangible/service product in a virtual environment, understanding of the recruitment funnel, working with marketing and an inside sales team, strategy development, process creation and collaborating across a large organization.

Desired Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in relevant discipline preferred. 8 years of experience preferred.

Experience in online higher education recruitment, working with nontraditional, online prospects in a recruitment funnel, managing people, and working across levels within an organization preferred.

Deeper knowledge and experience of the required areas.
