xpate says on its About page that it is "an all-in-one payment and banking bundle for ambitious digital businesses" that was "Founded in Riga and operating internationally", with a mission "to build the financial backbone of the future". The company timeline says "xpate is established in Riga with a vision to simplify global money movement" in 2019, and the About page lists Mike Shafro as CEO and Founder. The legal footer states that xpate Ltd "is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an Electronic Money Institution" in the United Kingdom, that xpate SIA "is licensed by Latvijas Banka as an Electronic Money Institution" for the European Economic Area, and that NOVUM Financial Technologies Pte. Ltd. "is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a Major Payment Institution". LinkedIn classes xpate as a privately held financial services company, and the job adverts describe it as "an all-in-one money management platform built for businesses, fintechs, and regulated industries".
Where will I work?
The Personio board has five adverts: two in Riga (Financial Controller and Junior Accountant), two in Cyprus (Senior Backend Developer and Senior Frontend Developer) and one in the United Kingdom (Legal Counsel). The careers page says "From our Riga HQ" and "From Riga and London to Singapore and beyond", and the About page says the team has been "operating since 2019 with offices in Latvia and the UK". The adverts describe the working model as "hybrid options", "hybrid work options", "a hybrid working model" and, for the Backend role, "hybrid/remote work options"; the Personio board lists that role as "Cyprus, Remote Cyprus", and the careers page lists the Legal Counsel role as London Remote. The Backend advert adds "You have English at B2+ level (the team is English-speaking)".
What is the xpate team like?
The careers page describes the people it wants as "challengers. Builders. Doers." and promises "Your contribution is celebrated, day in and day out. Welcome to a place where every voice matters". The adverts talk about "Ownership of your work end-to-end, with the freedom to move fast and make a real impact" and "a culture where voices are heard", and the Legal Counsel advert mentions "A collaborative team culture where initiative, curiosity, and accountability are valued". Several adverts ask candidates to use AI tools daily to speed up their work. The About page names a leadership team that includes a COO, a Chief Risk Officer, a Chief Compliance Officer, a Chief Commercial Officer and a Head of Finance. The careers page also says "You can work from anywhere, with anyone, on anything", which is written as a trait it looks for in candidates rather than as a stated benefit. The hiring steps on the page are a CV, a 30-minute intro call and a team chat.
Work-Life Balance
All five live adverts, spread across Finance, Legal and Product and Technology, state flexible working hours: "Flexible working hours and a hybrid working model" in the Legal Counsel advert, "Flexible working hours, hybrid options, private health insurance, and generous paid time off" in the Financial Controller advert, "flexible hours and hybrid/remote work options" in the Backend advert and "Flexible working hours to support work–life balance" in the Frontend advert. Under "Flexibility & work-life balance" the careers page promises "Work how, where, and when you thrive". None of the adverts states core hours, a required overlap or a weekly hours figure. For time off, the adverts say "generous paid time off", and the Frontend advert adds "Extra personal time off for rest and recharge: 12 additional days per year, plus your birthday off". The base number of paid days is not stated.
