What is Wiris?
Wiris (legally Maths for More, SLU) is a Barcelona software company that builds STEM tools for education, science and publishing. Its About page calls it "a pioneering software development company founded over 25 years ago and headquartered in Barcelona with offices in Long Beach, California" and says "We are currently more than 80 people". The timeline starts in 1999, when "Our journey began with 5 Math students and a Full Professor in a research project at BarcelonaTech", and it records the 2017 "Acquisition of Design Science, our main competitor in the US and the makers of MathType, the leading equation editor for Microsoft Office." The homepage says "Trusted by 100,000+ organizations globally", and the product line includes MathType, WirisQuizzes and Nubric. The adverts state the mission as "to make people's STEM work more meaningful".
Where will I work?
All four live roles are in Barcelona, and the BambooHR job board lists each one as "Barcelona, Barcelona (Hybrid)". The adverts describe a "Hybrid work model, enjoy a flexible balance with up to two (2) days per week working from home" and "A great work environment in Barcelona city center." The terms of use give the registered address as Carrer Roger de Flor 223, Barcelona, and the contact page marks Barcelona as the HQ; the other office is in Long Beach, California, but no live role is based there. Every advert asks for Spanish and English: "Fluency in Spanish and English" for the agile coach and the junior developer, "Fluent in Spanish and English" for the data engineer and "Professional working proficiency in Spanish and English" for DevOps.
What is the Wiris team like?
The four live roles cover management (a Team Agile Coach for Kanban), engineering (a Junior Software Developer working on MathType integrations, and a DevOps Engineer) and product (a Data & Integrations Engineer building pipelines on AWS). The developer advert describes working with "the Product Trio (Product Manager, Tech Lead, Product Designer)" within a Kanban framework. The values named in the adverts are "People first", "Contribution", "Courage" and "Leadership", and each advert sums the culture up as "Wiris, where everyone matters, work is fun, and growth never ends." The About page counts "+15 Cultures among employees", and the careers page lists "Everyone is heard and respected" among its reasons to join. The adverts add "All our job offers are open to people with a disability certification."
Work-Life Balance
All four live adverts, across management, engineering and product, list "Flexible working hours" under "WHAT DO WE OFFER YOU?". No core hours or start and finish times are stated, and neither the careers page nor the About page mentions working hours, so the wording comes from the adverts alone. The same lists offer "23 paid vacation days per year, plus your birthday, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve off" and a hybrid pattern of "up to two (2) days per week working from home". The adverts do not say whether public holidays come on top of the 23 days.
