About Waterwise

Who We Are

Waterwise, established as an independent, not-for-profit organization, champions water efficiency in the United Kingdom.

Renowned for being the UK's conscience on water efficiency, we serve on behalf of people and the environment. With over two decades of experience, we have become the leading authority in water efficiency policy, regulation, research, behavior change, and campaigns, significantly impacting water conservation efforts at both national and international levels.

Our mission is rooted in the urgent need to protect one of our most precious resources. As climate change intensifies and water scarcity becomes an increasing concern, our work has never been more critical. We bridge the gap between policy makers, water companies, businesses, and communities to create meaningful, lasting change in how we value and use water.

What We Do

Our work is multifaceted, encompassing UK-wide partnership water efficiency campaigns, influencing policy and regulatory agendas, and pioneering innovative solutions to engage customers and communities. We conduct extensive research to understand and change water usage behaviors, aiming for a future where water is used wisely every day, everywhere.

Our Core Activities Include:

  • Policy & Advocacy: Shaping water efficiency regulations and standards across the UK, working directly with government bodies and regulators
  • Research & Innovation: Leading behavioral research to understand what motivates water-saving actions and developing evidence-based solutions
  • Campaigns & Engagement: Running national campaigns that inspire millions to save water at home, work, and in their communities
  • Professional Standards: Promoting water-efficient practices through our Waterwise Checkmark certification and Waterwise Training programs for water-efficiency experts
  • Partnership Building: Collaborating with water companies, businesses, NGOs, and local authorities to scale our impact

Our influence extends beyond the UK, contributing to international discussions on water conservation and sustainable resource management.
