About Volt Athletics

What is Volt Athletics?

Volt Athletics is a Seattle-based sports tech company. From the about page (verbatim): "Our company's core mission is to make world-class, research-based training accessible to everyone, everywhere." Volt combines purposeful AI with research-backed strength-and-conditioning principles to personalize training experiences for athletes, coaches, and consumers.

The company was co-founded in 2011 by Dan Giuliani (Co-Founder & Chairman) and Trevor Watkins (Co-Founder & CEO). Per the about page: "As with most great innovation, the idea for Volt emerged from necessity: as Dan struggled to efficiently create training programs for his athletes in Excel, Trevor stepped in to help. Combining their expertise, they developed a unique technology that evolved into a comprehensive platform, making elite-level strength and conditioning accessible and affordable for all."

Dan is a CSCS-certified strength coach who taught masters-level Sport Performance at the University of Washington and holds a Masters in Sport Administration & Leadership from Seattle University. Trevor is "Architect behind Volt's proprietary AI, Cortex®" and holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Business from Pepperdine University. The Chairman of Volt's Strength Coach Advisory Board is Boyd Epley, legendary strength coach.

In 2024 Volt acquired ZAMA Health (a mental-health app for athletes): "This strategic move enables Volt to integrate physical training with mental wellness solutions, serving nearly 2 million individuals worldwide."

Volt operates a distributed workforce. From the careers page (verbatim): "Volt has transitioned to a fully distributed workforce. All open positions are remote at this time, however, candidates should be based in the US with a willingness to travel to Seattle periodically."
