About Udemy

What is Udemy?

Udemy is a global learning company on a mission "to transform lives through learning." Founded in 2010 and publicly traded on the Nasdaq (UDMY), Udemy operates one of the world's largest online learning marketplaces, where tens of thousands of instructors create and publish courses for a global audience of nearly 84 million learners. Instructors have built courses in 78 languages, and the platform has powered over 1 billion cumulative enrollments since inception. Udemy describes itself today as an "AI-powered skills acceleration platform" that helps individuals and organizations build the technical, business and human skills most relevant to a fast-changing workplace. Its enterprise product, Udemy Business, enables companies worldwide to offer on-demand learning for all employees, immersive hands-on learning for technology teams, and cohort-based learning for leaders. In December 2025 Udemy entered a combination with Coursera, creating "one of the world's most comprehensive skills development platforms for the AI era."

Where will I work?

Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico and Türkiye. Many roles follow a hybrid model: as Udemy states, "This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays." Its hybrid work model spans San Francisco, Denver, Ankara, Dublin, Mexico City and Melbourne, while some positions (for example regional roles) are based remotely in specific markets.

What is the Udemy team like?

Udemy calls its people "our greatest asset" and describes "a world-class culture with employees committed to redefining the future of work through a skills based approach and continuous learning." Learning is built into the job: 95% of employees spent time learning on the platform in 2025, supported by leader-development programs such as MentorU, Udemy Manager, Invested Leader and Leadership Coaching. The careers team frames the culture around ownership and collaboration — "We trust people to lead, make decisions, and follow through… you don't need to wait for permission or layers of approval to have an impact," and "We collaborate openly and shape ideas together. Everyone has a voice."

Work-Life Balance

Udemy operates a hybrid model that pairs in-office collaboration with flexibility: roles typically ask for three core in-office days (Tuesday–Thursday) with "flexibility on Mondays and Fridays." Employee wellbeing is supported through Udemy's "WholeU benefits, a comprehensive suite to care for employees' emotional, physical, and financial well-being." Continuous personal growth is part of the rhythm, including "a monthly UDay to invest in yourself."

Perks and Benefits

Udemy's benefits, branded "Our Benefits Start with U," are designed to "provide you and your family with the protection and care you need," and vary by region. Highlights include "competitive health and retirement benefits" and a 401(k) retirement savings plan in the US, equity through employee stock purchase and incentive plans, and the WholeU wellbeing suite spanning emotional, physical and financial health. Learning is a standout perk: employees get "full access to Udemy courses, a monthly UDay to invest in yourself, and a budget to spend on whatever helps you improve."
