About Studio Republic
What is Studio Republic?
Studio Republic is a UK B Corp-accredited brand, UX and digital agency working exclusively for the charity sector. The about page states the mission verbatim: "We're on a mission to boost impact, engagement and awareness for charities — Driven by our passion for the charity sector, we use our UX, brand and digital expertise to turn challenges into opportunities."
B Corp accreditation runs back to 2019. From the about page verbatim: "We wear our B Corp accreditation as a badge of honour. Embodying our dedication to using business as a force for good, we strive to make a positive impact on the world while amplifying the purpose of charities." The studio's award shelf reflects a sustained track record in not-for-profit campaigns — winners of Campaign of the Year, Integrated Marketing Campaign of the Year, the Not-for-profit/Charity Sector Award, Fundraising Campaign of the Year, and a Facebook-hosted Community Award.

Work-Life Balance
Studio Republic introduced a four-day working week trial in January 2022. Per the company's own blog post "Studio Republic trials the four-day week", the schedule is Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:45pm (an extra 45 minutes per day) with the studio closed Friday-Sunday to give the team a three-day rest. Bank holidays are absorbed by working the remaining weekdays in that week. Founder Chris Todhunter framed the team verbatim as: "A brilliant team of committed, passionate individuals with a common aim — to use our skills and our 9-5 to make a positive difference through the work we do."
The rationale outlined in the blog post spans four arguments: improving work-life balance and mental health; tackling retention concerns (citing a Deloitte survey finding 22% of millennials plan to leave jobs due to poor work-life balance); creating a level-playing field for parents/caregivers (especially women who disproportionately left the workforce during the pandemic); and reducing commute-related carbon footprint by approximately 30%. The six-month trial was designed to measure team happiness and productivity, and the schedule remains operational in 2026.
