About Starshipit
What is Starshipit?
Starshipit is an Auckland shipping and fulfilment software company. Its About page calls it "Australasia's number one shipping and fulfilment platform, helping retailers save time and deliver great shipping experiences", and says "over 30,000 retailers in Australasia, the UK, and around the globe rely on Starshipit". The platform automates every step from label generation to customs documentation, and the company says it does not "clip the ticket on your shipments or resell freight". It tells its origin story from 2014, when its founder George Plummer, a developer by trade, built a unified platform for a retailer juggling several couriers. It is B Corp certified and lists awards from the NZ Hi-Tech Awards, Retail Systems Awards, TIN Awards and others.
Where will I work?
The About page says "Starshipit HQ is based in Auckland, but our team is dotted throughout NZ, Australia, and even Buenos Aires!". The careers page lists "Flexible hybrid working" among its benefits and says "Remote team members, we have not forgotten about you. We ensure that no matter where you work, you also get to experience the Starshipit team culture". The Auckland office is described as a lively space with a "dog-friendly" kitchen. On 2026-10-17 the careers page said "There are no open roles listed right now", so this is a company profile until the next vacancy is posted.
What is the Starshipit team like?
The careers page describes "an ambitious team of innovators" who "thrive in the fast lane", championing innovation, collaboration, "rapid decision-making" and an agile mindset, while adding that "there's always time for a laugh along the way". It lists three values: "Customer as a compass", "Agile from day dot" and "Together is better". Internal mobility is part of the offer: the page says its approach "supports team members who want to explore new roles within the business when new opportunities come up", with a dedicated training and development budget. Its hiring process has three stages, from application screening to an interview and skills assessment with reference checks, and then the offer.
Work-Life Balance
The careers page lists "Half-day summer Fridays" among the benefits and says the team values "striking that perfect work-life balance". It does not say which Fridays or how many, so this profile claims only a half day on summer Fridays. It gives no vacation figure, so no allowance is claimed here.
Perks and Benefits
The careers benefits list reads: private health insurance, flexible hybrid working, a pet friendly office, half-day summer Fridays, a professional development fund and a paid parental leave top-up. The About page adds that the benefits were designed with the team and include "flexible working, personal development grants, more desirable parental policies and health insurance for all".
