About seQura
What is seQura?
seQura is a buy-now-pay-later and instalment payments company. Its About page says "Born in Barcelona, we are a privately owned fintech in the scale-up phase" and describes the company as "Present in Europe and Latin America", with counters of 6000+ merchants, 3 million shoppers, an NPS of 87 and 9 countries. The adverts describe the product this way: "seQura provides innovative, flexible and easy-to-use payment technologies that help merchants acquire, convert and retain more customers." The payment options include "Buy Now Pay Later", and shoppers can pay "in small, comfortable installments of up to 24 months". The sectors named in the adverts are retail, education, eyewear, repairs and travel. The company is privately held. Svea Bank's own news page (published in March 2022) says "Svea Bank has acquired 17.7 percent of shares in SeQura, a leading provider of payment services in southern Europe", and seQura's About page now writes the company name as seQura/SVEA. One advert says the company is "based in sunny Barcelona, born in 2013"; LinkedIn lists 382 employees and the adverts say "Over 6000 businesses, almost 3 million shoppers, and almost 400 employees".
Where will I work?
The head office is in Barcelona. The About page says "We are located one block from Barcelona's Arc de Triomf." and "Our office is at Carrer d'Alí Bei, 7, 08010 Barcelona." The working model is hybrid: the Global Marketing & Events Specialist advert says the role "follows our hybrid working model", typically "3 days per week in the office and 2 days working from home", and is not a remote position. The tech adverts are more open: "Hybrid or fully remote work" appears in the Senior Platform Engineer and Senior Product Software Engineer adverts, and "Hybrid or remote work (up to 2 hours difference from GMT+2)" in the Senior Analytics Engineer and Senior Software Engineer adverts, so remote tech hires should work within a couple of hours of Spanish time. The Financial Product Data Analyst advert says "Hybrid work from Barcelona". The two Sales Manager roles for the education market (Italy and Germany) are listed as remote jobs on the board. The adverts are written in English and ask candidates to "submit your CV in English"; the HR Generalist advert asks for "Fluency in Spanish", while the tech adverts ask for English proficiency. For the remote tech team the About page lists "a dedicated Tech Day with lightning talks, pizza, and plenty of space to share ideas in person", and the whole company meets at the office once a quarter for seQura Week.
What is the seQura team like?
The About page says "At seQura/SVEA, we foster a people-first culture where transparency, flexibility, and collaboration shape how we work every day." It adds "With over 30 nationalities represented in our community" and says the company is "based on a horizontal business model". The Senior Software Engineer advert states "AI-assisted development is how our engineers work every day" and asks for "7+ years of experience working as a Software Engineer", so the engineering roles open today are senior. Today's sixteen adverts are spread across Tech (5), Finance (4), People (2), Marketing (2), Growth (2) and Risk (1). The hiring steps in the Senior Software Engineer advert are an interview with the People team, a technical take-home assessment (async), a live peer review of the assessment and a meet-the-team round. The About page describes the quarterly seQura Week as "a week where we all get together at the office for workshops, activities, and time to reconnect".
Work-Life Balance
"Flexible working hours." is listed among the benefits in all five Tech-department adverts today: platform engineering, product software engineering, financial product data analytics, analytics engineering and software engineering. The company's English benefits page makes it a company-wide benefit: it lists "Flexible Working Hours" with the line "Hybrid or remote modality with a flexible schedule." The eleven non-tech adverts (finance, people, marketing, growth and risk) list a shorter benefits block without the hours line, so ask whether it applies to your team. No advert or page states core hours or a weekly-hours figure. Time off is stated as "23 vacation days + 2 days of free disposal per year", and the awaQe wellness programme is "co-created by and for our community", with activities such as yoga, mindfulness and physio sessions.
