About Schréder
What is Schréder?
Schréder is a Belgian outdoor-lighting manufacturer. Its 2024 Sustainability Report calls it "the leading independent outdoor lighting manufacturer worldwide with more than 1.5 million light points sold per year", present "in more than 70 countries on 6 continents". The group was "founded in 1907 in Liège, Belgium, as a family-owned company", and the holding company, Schréder SA, is privately owned with registered offices at Rue de Lusambo 67 in Brussels. In the same report the CEO credits "our 2,500 employees worldwide". The adverts describe a company that lights urban environments and is adding connected infrastructure for "Smart Cities": remote-management systems, the EXEDRA platform that helps customers manage, monitor and operate public lighting, and an IT team that runs the group's Dynamics 365 ecosystem (Sales, Customer Service, Finance & Operations).
Where will I work?
Group head office is in Brussels, and one advert (the Bornem sports-segment role) also names an R&D centre in Liège: "A family-owned Belgian company with headquarters in Brussels and R&D center in Liège". The 13 adverts that carry the flexible-hours wording on 6 November 2026 sit in Ternopil in western Ukraine (9), in Belgium (3: the Brussels head office, Bornem and Liège) and in Carnaxide near Lisbon, Portugal (1). Ternopil is also a manufacturing site: the Ukrainian investment agency says "The modern factory located in Ternopil produces a wide range of products for roads, streets, parks, tunnels, sports and industrial facilities", but the Ternopil adverts read that day were IT, sales-operations, marketing, design, product-information and engineering roles. The same board also lists adverts in Hungary, Romania, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and a second Lisbon-area site (Algés) that do not use the wording. On working pattern the adverts say "For all functions that allow it, we encourage hybrid working, as working in person and remotely has benefits" and name "structural homeworking" as an advantage; office days per week are not stated.
What is the Schréder team like?
The adverts promise "A positive work environment" that is "safe, supportive, and free from discrimination or harassment", open communication between employees and managers at every organisational level, and a culture built on shared values. Schréder describes itself as entrepreneurial: "entrepreneurship and a growth mindset are essential". The 2024 report lists six values (Innovation, Respect, Integrity, Caring for customers, Working together and Entrepreneurship) and says employees work in a family-owned company with a long-term vision and an international character. The Ukrainian operation is long established: the Ukrainian investment agency says Schréder has been present since 1991 and "created more than 300 jobs", and the 2024 report describes team events there such as a football tournament and a children's day at the factory. In Belgium the report says the company organises a Well-Being Day every year, with talks on safety, mental health and ergonomics.
Work-Life Balance
Flexible working hours are written into the benefits paragraph of the adverts that carry the group template: "extra-legal advantages such as flexible working hours, structural homeworking, a market competitive salary, performance bonus". The same sentence appears in adverts for IT, finance, sales, design and marketing roles, including the Brussels head-office Group Pricing Manager advert and the Belgian sales and IT adverts, so it is not confined to one office. These adverts do not state a core-hours window, a normal weekly-hours figure or an annual-leave number. Local adverts elsewhere on the board state their own leave, for example "30 Ferientage" in Switzerland and "31 vakantiedagen" in the Netherlands, so leave is set country by country.
Perks and Benefits
- Flexible working hours and structural homeworking, listed as extra-legal advantages in 13 of the 24 adverts read.
- Performance bonus and pension provision, listed in the same benefits sentence.
- Medical and hospitalization insurance in the Belgian adverts and four Ukrainian adverts; medical insurance in five Ukrainian adverts.
- Opportunity for professional development and training in five of the nine Ukrainian adverts, and the line that the company "encourages your employees to learn and develop daily".
- Required technical equipment provided in five of the nine Ukrainian adverts.
- The Brussels and Liège adverts add a mobility budget, meal vouchers, eco vouchers, net allowances and a cafetaria plan; the Bornem Sports Segment key-account advert lists a company car in place of the mobility budget.
