About Resource Generation

Who We Are

Resource Generation (RG) is a national, multiracial, membership-based organization founded in the 1990s with a bold mission: mobilizing young people aged 18-35 with wealth and class privilege to become transformative leaders working toward the equitable distribution of wealth, land, and power.

Headquartered in the United States, we've grown to include 18 active chapters across the country. Our work encompasses base-building, political education, giving circles, and coordinated local and national campaigns that challenge economic inequality at its roots.

What We Do

Resource Generation organizes young people with wealth to strategically invest in social justice movements and use their resources to support systemic change. Our work includes:

  • Organizing and Movement Building: We create spaces for young people with wealth to organize collectively, develop political consciousness, and take action alongside grassroots movements.
  • Political Education Programming: Through webinars, conferences, and ongoing praxis groups, we educate our members about wealth inequality, class privilege, and effective strategies for leveraging resources toward justice.
  • Giving Circles and Funding: We facilitate collective giving and help members move significant resources to grassroots organizations led by poor and working-class communities and people of color.
  • Strategic Campaigns: We partner with organizations like the Center for Popular Democracy and the Movement for Black Lives to support locally-led campaigns that address the root causes of economic injustice.

Our approach centers the leadership of those most impacted by economic inequality while creating pathways for people with privilege to contribute meaningfully to movements for change.

Working at Resource Generation

At RG, we don't just advocate for justice externally—we embody it in how we structure our workplace. We emphasize a collaborative and inclusive work environment grounded in feminist and social justice principles.

Our team of 22 full-time staff members work remotely from various locations across the United States, creating a geographically diverse team that reflects the national scope of our work. We operate on a 32-hour workweek, generally Monday through Thursday, because we believe that sustainable organizing requires sustainable work conditions.

We are deeply committed to anti-oppression, diversity, equity, and inclusion in our hiring, organizational culture, and daily practices. We foster a supportive environment where staff can thrive both personally and professionally, recognizing that our team's well-being directly impacts our capacity to support transformative social change.

Our Work Culture

  • Values-aligned: We practice internally what we advocate for externally
  • Collaborative decision-making: Staff input shapes organizational direction
  • Continuous learning: We're committed to ongoing political education and development
