About Resource Generation

What is Resource Generation?

Resource Generation (RG) is "the only organization in the U.S. organizing young people with wealth toward the equitable distribution of wealth, land, and power." A national, multiracial, membership-based organisation, RG mobilises young adults aged 18-35 with wealth and class privilege to redirect resources toward grassroots movements led by people of colour and working-class communities. Executive Director Iimay Ho leads a team of 24 full-time staff distributed across the United States.

The organisation runs local chapters and a college organising programme, a redistribution pledge, a financial professionals database, Transformative Investment Principles (TIPS), a land reparations and indigenous solidarity toolkit, and social justice philanthropy training. RG members have moved over $100 million annually to social justice movements.

Where will I work?

Resource Generation is a remote-first organisation. Per the jobs page, "fully remote positions with staff located across the U.S." Staff who live near the New York City office can work at the headquarters, but no in-office days are required. The staff-benefits page details a one-time office setup stipend for home workers OR monthly co-working space costs covered, and monthly phone and internet reimbursement.

What is the Resource Generation team like?

The 24-person staff team prioritises lived experience and equity-first hiring. The jobs page notes RG "actively encourages applications from BIPOC individuals, trans/non-binary people, femmes, and those from poor/working-class backgrounds." The full equal opportunity statement extends to "race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability or medical condition, national origin or ancestry," among other protected categories.

Work-Life Balance

Resource Generation operates a 32-hour workweek — staff "work 32 hours per week, Monday to Thursday." On top of the 4-day week, the organisation offers 15 vacation days per year, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, 5 bereavement days, 11 federal holidays, an office closure between Christmas and New Year's, plus a typical one-week summer closure. Sabbaticals of 8 weeks paid leave kick in after 4 years of service. Parental leave runs up to 6 months paid, with an option to return part-time at full salary for an additional 3 months.
