About QBayLogic

What is QBayLogic?

QBayLogic is a steward-owned FPGA/ASIC design house based in the Netherlands. The mission is direct: "We help businesses create innovative products by building high throughput, low latency, low power implementations of the complex algorithms that form the core of their product. These applications can be found in many different environments: embedded, on the edge, and in data-centers."

QBayLogic is also the steward of the open-source Clash compiler"a compiler (written in Haskell) that takes high-level Haskell code and translates that to low-level HDL code used to program FPGA devices. We use Clash for most of our projects." The original Clash creator, Christiaan Baaij, PhD, is part of the team.

Notable client projects span multiple verticals: Axign (audio chips for consumer electronics), Bittide (data centre application), low-latency switch for MedTech, TOmCAT (aerospace communications), and Tunneling Ball Device (low-latency mechatronics).

Where will I work?

QBayLogic operates from Capitool 10, 7521 PL Enschede, Netherlands (CoC 66440483; VAT NL856554558B01). The current remote policy is conservative: "Some of the non-junior positions at QBayLogic have previously been open to remote work, and we generally support remote options for more experienced roles. At this time, however, we are not offering remote positions, as our current vacancies require a strong focus on relationship-building and close collaboration." Employees are expected to be present at the office at least three days per week, with 2 days work from home flexibility. Employment options for non-EU residents via remote.com are currently unavailable; EU residents are employed through direct employment or remote.com depending on the country.

What is the QBayLogic team like?

The team is small, technical, and family-feeling. Alexandra Baaij (joined 2021): "being part of the team feels like being part of a supportive and close-knit family." Felix Klein, PhD (joined 2023): "It's a real pleasure to work with such a great and open-minded team." Hidde Moll: "I've always been intrigued by the intersection of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, which merge at QBayLogic." Peter Lebbing (joined 2019): "I joined QBayLogic in 2019 to work part-time on extending and improving Clash's standard library. I feel really fortunate to work with such a pleasant and capable group of people."

The team is currently hiring for Internship/Graduation Position (BSc/MSc, 32–40 hours, for-credit student internship), with open applications welcomed for other roles. The internship requires academic credit (e.g. ECTS) from the candidate's institution.
