About Portcullis Legals
What is Portcullis Legals?
Portcullis Legals is a Plymouth-headquartered family law firm specialising in wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney, probate, and estate administration, with an additional office in Truro. The firm was founded by CEO Trevor Worth MBA TEP in the late 1980s — Trevor still runs the business almost 40 years on — and now serves clients across Devon, Cornwall and the wider Great South West with face-to-face, telephone and Zoom / Teams / FaceTime appointments.
The firm is a Two-time British Wills & Probate Award Winner (2019 and 2022), offers a Fixed Fee Guarantee on all of its services, and has been featured in the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, Metro, The Sun, Modern Law Magazine, the Plymouth Herald and Plymouth Live for its work culture.

What is the Portcullis Legals team like?
CEO and Founder Trevor Worth holds an MBA from the University of Exeter, guest lectures on innovation and entrepreneurship at several universities, and sits on the Advisory Boards of the University of Essex Business School and Marjon University. He was voted Industry Champion in October 2022 by his peers across the UK at the "Oscars" of the estate planning profession, was previously on the Advisory Panel of the Legal Services Board in London, and was elected Honorary President and first Fellow of The B.E.S.T. Foundation in 2022. He is a full STEP member (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, TEP designation).
Head of Legal and Compliance Margaret "Mags" Gallagher LL.B (Hons) — a former International Banking & Financial Control professional who later studied at the University of London External Programme and Exeter — qualified as a solicitor in June 2008 and joined Portcullis in January 2014. Business Manager Justyna Nowak BSc oversees operations across the firm, having joined in summer 2021 after studying Criminology and Sociology at Cardiff University.
Work-Life Balance
In January 2019, Trevor introduced a 4-day working week to Portcullis Legals and simultaneously increased salaries — making the firm, in its own words, the first company in the world to do both at once. The Sun quoted him as "The Best Boss Ever" at launch, and another newspaper labelled him "The Best Boss in the World!" The firm self-describes as "Global Pioneers of the 4 Day Week" and Trevor is now a thought leader on Colleague-Centric working, in demand around the country and overseas to talk about flexible working.
Perks and Benefits
The firm fully funds team members' education and qualification aspirations with leading universities, colleges, and external training partners. Salaries were raised when the 4-day week was introduced and have been positioned around the "Colleague Centric" model since. The firm's strong CSR commitment includes active support for local Plymouth charities. Standard UK paid holiday allowance plus bank holidays applies. There are no current open roles being advertised.
