About People & Transformational HR
What is People & Transformational HR (PTHR)?
PTHR is a B Corp-certified consultancy founded in 2012 by Perry Timms with the vision to create "better business for a better world." The firm describes itself verbatim as "a connected, collaborative enterprise of conscious business activists, with audacious dreams of better business for a better world." PTHR delivers innovative HR, Organisation Design, and learning solutions — with an ethos the team describes as "progressive, alternative and unorthodox."
The current version of the firm, PTHR V6.0, is structured around a "Stacks model" providing consulting and advisory services, learning interventions, and enabling products. The 2024 Impact Report — the firm's fourth — celebrates a renewed B Corp recertification, climate-positive sustainability progress, and expanded social and governance impact. PTHR is also a Climate Positive Workforce, World Blue Certified, and Living Wage Employer.
Where will I work?
PTHR operates as a fully remote, distributed UK team. The firm operates within the UK and promotes a highly flexible working ethos. The team punctuates every working week with a structured mid-week pause (see Work-Life Balance below).
What is the PTHR team like?
The seven-person team — described as "Transformers" — is led by founder Perry Timms (Chief Energy Officer & Practice Lead: Innovation). Perry was ranked the Number 1 Most Influential Thinker in HR by HR Magazine in 2022 (his 5th inclusion on the peer-nominated list, 4th time in the top 10). His books with Kogan Page include Transformational HR (2017, 2nd edition 2021; voted Top 100 Business Strategy Books of All Time in 2018), The Energized Workplace (2020; Business Book of the Year 2021 shortlist), and The HR Operating Model (2025).
The team includes Catalina Ticau (Chief People & Performance Officer), Hannah Rogers (Practice Lead: Systems & OD), Katy Stanley (Chief Operating Officer), Kirsten Buck (Chief Futures Officer, Practice Lead: Sustainability & B Corp Certification), Maddy Woodman (Head of Learning Innovation and Products), and Tom Paisley (Digital Lead & Insights Consultant).
Work-Life Balance
PTHR has run a "Wellness Wednesday" — a closed Wednesday across the entire firm — since July 2020. Perry Timms describes it deliberately as a "four-day operating week" rather than a strict 4-day work week: the team can dip in and out of light work if they desire to do so. Perry's verbatim framing of why: "The punctuation of the working week was something Perry believed would help us re-energise" and "The idea was for us all to become less concerned about clocked hours, and focus more on what we did with the hours we had."
Typical Wellness Wednesday activities for the team have been yoga, reading, running, studying, painting, life admin, and family time. There is no financial detriment to staff — full pay for the punctuated week. Per third-party recognition, PTHR is a Gold-Standard 4-day Working Week organisation.
