About Ortto
What is Ortto?
Ortto is a customer engagement platform that combines a customer data platform (CDP) with marketing automation, enabling marketing teams to design and orchestrate customer journeys across channels in a single system. With real-time data, event-driven architecture, and no-code integrations, teams can connect and activate their data to deliver more personalised campaigns at scale. The platform powers email, SMS, push notifications, live chat, knowledge base, in-app messages, popups/forms/surveys, scoring, Checkmate tracking®, transactional email, and multi-lingual marketing — all under one roof.
Founded as Autopilot by brothers Mike and Chris Sharkey, the platform rebranded to Ortto in 2022 and has grown into a system serving SaaS, Financial Services, Healthcare, and Not for Profit customers globally over more than 15 years of development. On April 9, 2026, the founders announced that Ortto has been acquired by Canva — aligning with Canva''s expansion to span the entire marketing and content lifecycle, from ideation and creation through to publishing, measurement and optimisation. Ortto continues as a standalone platform post-acquisition, with the same team, account, pricing, and workflows.
Where will I work?
Ortto''s team is global and remote-first. People work from anywhere globally with communication via Slack, regular meetings, monthly town halls, and get-togethers. There is no requirement to be in a specific location.
What is the Ortto team like?
The culture is framed around bringing out best work through challenging goals while stripping back the red tape: "We challenge people with big goals to bring out their best work. We strip back the red tape so great ideas can become reality." Future-proofing the career is a stated value — verbatim from the careers page: "Learn from people who are truly at the forefront of AI and automation on a product that is changing the face of marketing."
Leadership remains the founding Sharkey brothers — Mike (CEO) and Chris (CTO) — who in their April 2026 acquisition note thanked the customer community: "Our customers have shaped the product, pushed us to be better, and trusted us with some of the most important parts of their marketing stack."
Work-Life Balance
Ortto operates a 4.5-day work week with a half day on Friday — verbatim from the careers page: "We offer a 4.5 day work week with a half day on Friday. Spend more time with friends and family, doing the things you love." The remote-first global model means no commute or fixed office hours. The home-office setup budget is described as "generous" though specific amounts are not publicly disclosed.
