About OrangeYouGlad
What is OrangeYouGlad?
OrangeYouGlad ("OYG") is Brooklyn's freshest design studio, established in 2002 and proudly a Woman Owned Business. The studio offers branding and visual design — "Putting the fun in functional for over 20 years" — and has built a portfolio that spans household-name clients including Care.com, Google, MyFitnessPal, Brooklyn Strategist, and Lighthouse International Film Festival.
Services span the full design spectrum: Logo Design, Visual Identity, Brand Refresh, Design Systems, Style Guide / Brand Books, Web Design, Mobile App Design, Design for Social, Deck and Presentation Design, Event Design, Print Design, and Illustration. From the home page: "We offer a wide range of design services, all with branding at their core."
Where will I work?
A small Brooklyn-based studio operating Mon-Thurs 9am-5pm. The team is co-located but the four-day-week structure deliberately reduces commuting and office time. As OYG describes it: "We're using less energy by not being in the office, and being in less makes it easier for working moms to maintain a better work/life balance."
What is the OrangeYouGlad team like?
A "small yet mighty team" of designers who have been collaborating since 2002. The studio's 4-day-work-week blog post describes the team culture: "Having the Friday off really adds a lot to how good we feel, how excited we are to see each other on Mondays, and having a better work-life balance which has always been important to OYG." Days are structured around "focus blocks and meeting blocks" — a deliberate choice the team made when transitioning to fewer hours.
Work-Life Balance
OrangeYouGlad adopted a 4-day work week in August 2022, participating in a study with 4 Day Week Global. Verbatim from the studio's blog Q&A: "Howdy folks, here at OYG we've adopted the 4-day work week and have been at it since August 2022! As a team, we all work Mon-Thurs, 9am - 5pm." Pay was preserved: "Same pay but we work less hours. Win, win." Client expectations held steady: "We've had no complaints and we are meeting all of our deadlines. No change in service from our client's end." And the productivity result, based on six months of internal surveys: "Our team was more productive overall!" The studio actively presents and delivers on Thursdays so clients can use Friday for internal review and feedback.
