About Noodle Cat Games
What is Noodle Cat Games?
Noodle Cat Games is an independent video-game development studio founded in 2022 by a team of veterans from Epic Games, EA, BioWare, Codemasters, Disney, PopCap and Cryptic. The company is led by David Hunt (CEO and Founder) — formerly the lead designer on Fortnite for nearly a decade — alongside co-founders Michael Noland (CTO, ex-Epic principal programmer) and Ed Zobrist (business advisor, ex-Epic head of publishing). In November 2022 the studio raised $4.1M in seed funding led by Makers Fund.
The studio's debut title, Cloudheim, is a cooperative multiplayer action RPG launching in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Cloudheim combines visual crafting with physics-based combat in a Norse-inspired world that players can explore solo or in up to four-player online co-op, from a flying turtle base called Odin Shell. The game has been featured by Saving Content and was named a 2025 Game Changer.
Where will I work?
Noodle Cat is a fully remote studio headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. From the founder's introductory post: "Fully remote 4-day work weeks" — staff can work from anywhere with no central office requirement. The studio also confirms equipment is supplied: "Personal ownership of company-supplied equipment (earned over a period of time)."
What is the Noodle Cat Games team like?
The team comprises ~20 veteran developers with pedigrees from Epic, EA, Bioware, Codemasters and Disney, working in leadership roles on legendary titles like Fortnite, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Infinity Blade. CEO David Hunt founded the studio explicitly to challenge industry crunch culture: "Our industry is notorious for demanding immense personal sacrifices in order to get a game to the finish line… I've seen this grind too many coworkers to dust."
The organisational structure is intentionally flat — "A relatively flat organizational structure that supports individual autonomy and growth." The studio's thesis is that healthier, more sustainable processes yield more creative games: "I believe we'll produce more creative games, at a more rapid pace, than the industry norm." Senior Brand & Marketing Manager Lauren Kenner handles press; the studio's development thesis is "applying the design principles behind Fortnite's explosive growth to create a collaborative physics-based action RPG combat in the gameplay loop of a survival craft game."
