About NHS Business Services Authority
What is the NHS Business Services Authority?
The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) is an Arm's Length Body of the Department of Health and Social Care. It manages the NHS Pension Scheme, processes prescription payments, issues UK Global Health Insurance Cards (GHIC), and delivers dozens of other national services that support the NHS in England and Wales. Its services are used by NHS organisations, contractors and citizens across the country — "we are people connected to care".
Where will I work?
The NHSBSA is headquartered at Stella House in Newcastle upon Tyne, with sites in Fleetwood, Wakefield, Middlesbrough and Eastbourne. It describes itself as "committed and proud to be a flexible employer" and "will endeavour to offer a working pattern that suits you wherever possible, whether that be hybrid working, flexible hours, job sharing and more".
What is the NHSBSA team like?
Around 5,200 people across digital, data, operations, policy and corporate services roles. Glassdoor reviewers rate the organisation's work-life balance 4.4 out of 5 (267 reviews), praising "amazing work life balance" and flexi time — and in 2026 NHSBSA employees voted it one of Glassdoor's Best Places to Work.
Work-Life Balance
