What is Newable?
"Newable powers business growth." The company "provides investment, expertise and access to ambitious businesses looking to unlock their next stage of growth," and has been "working with ambitious businesses since 1982."
Its history is unusual. "We were founded in 1982 as Greater London Enterprise (GLE). In 2016, we re-branded as Newable to reflect our bold growth agenda and the wider national footprint of our activities." For most of that time it was a company limited by guarantee whose members were the 32 London Boroughs and the City of London Corporation. That changed in 2023, when "Newable became 100% employee-owned." CEO Chris Manson put it this way: "Employee ownership means everyone working at Newable Partnership Ltd is invested in the future and growth of our business. From now on, the Newable Partnership is owned by the very people who make it successful."
Today the group spans money, advice and workspace, and runs a "Buy, Grow, Realise" investment strategy "targeted at the regulated B2B SME market." Businesses it backs get "access to our Growth Team: support from day one across Finance, HR, Marketing, Digital and ESG."
Where will I work?
The head office is at 140 Aldersgate Street in the City of London, where the company provides "complimentary snacks, tea, coffee and fruit." Working is hybrid: "Newable has introduced a new hybrid working policy which allows you to work more flexibly. There is an expectation that you would be working out of our London Office at least two days per week (pro-rata for part-time people)." Beyond that, "you have the flexibility to book and work out of a NewFlex office location as they have a number of offices across the UK, including use of the XCHG London at 22 Bishopsgate."
What is the Newable team like?
Newable "looks to hire and reward passionate, bright and committed individuals who want to be part of doing something meaningful." Five values — Dream Big, Get Going, Grow Together, Always Improve and Pass It On — were "defined as a result of a company-wide engagement process," and an Annual Values Award programme recognises "above and beyond performance" against them. Because the business is employee-owned, "a Company Share Option Scheme is available for all Newable Partnership employees, so that all employees are rewarded for their contribution to Newable's growth." Teams organise their own socials.
Work-Life Balance
Holiday starts at 25 days and grows "by one day per year for each full holiday year in employment up to a maximum for 30 days," with your birthday off on top and the option to buy or sell up to five days. Fridays finish early: "you can finish your day's work at 16:30." Staff can take "up to 28 hours per annum" of volunteering time, and up to seven of those hours can go on wellbeing activities instead. Career breaks and sabbaticals can be requested as unpaid leave, and family leave is enhanced well beyond statutory.
