About Money Advice Trust

What is the Money Advice Trust?

The Money Advice Trust says it "exists to help prevent financial difficulty and remove problem debt from people's lives." Its About page says "The Money Advice Trust was founded in 1991 to increase the quality and availability of free, independent money advice to people with debt problems." It is a registered charity, number 1099506, and a company limited by guarantee that is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Through its National Debtline and Business Debtline services it provides "free debt advice to households and small businesses across the country". Its careers page says "In 2025 our National Debtline and Business Debtline advisers helped 216,859 people, and 391,800 people reached with advice content and information."

Beyond the advice lines, its careers page says the charity improves "quality in the money advice sector through training and tools developed and delivered through our Wiseradviser service", and influences "policy and practice to improve the UK's money and debt environment through our campaigns and partnership working." It also offers training and consultancy to organisations that support customers in vulnerable circumstances.

Where will I work?

Its careers page lists "Predominantly remote working (with some office attendance)" as a standard benefit. The Trust has offices in Birmingham and London, and says it has "recently invested in a total refurbishment of both our offices in Birmingham and London". Its registered office is Tricorn House, 51-53 Hagley Rd, Birmingham. At Birmingham there is "a free onsite gym, breakout area with pool table and wide screen TV", and both sites have free hot and cold drinks. For supporting-staff roles it says it will "always endeavour to conduct interviews in person at our offices in Birmingham or London", with Teams interviews where needed, and its contact centre adviser interviews are held over Microsoft Teams.

What is the Trust like?

It describes "a strong set of values that we live by", which are "We put people first", "We support each other" and "We solve problems". It is a Living Wage employer, accredited in April 2015, which it says means "every member of staff in our organisation earns not just the minimum wage but the Living Wage". It also says it is "fully committed to the Fair Work First Principles" and is a fostering friendly employer, "supporting employees who are or wish to become foster carers". A Social Committee arranges events and activities throughout the year.

Work-Life Balance

Its standard benefits list "29 days annual leave plus bank holidays, plus the option to use a day's leave each quarter as a wellbeing day", and staff can also buy and sell annual leave. With the eight bank holidays of England that is 37 days a year. It lists "Up to 30 days working outside the UK (per 12 month period)", so a predominantly remote member of staff can work from abroad for part of the year. On wellbeing, it says "The Trust is committed to the wellbeing of our staff", with an employee assistance programme offering "personalised, on-demand support from mental health, financial and legal experts", a Wellbeing Hub of apps and tools, and a free healthcare cash plan.
