About Medicash

What is Medicash?

Medicash is a health cash plan provider: "We provide flexible, affordable health cash plans that allow our policyholders to claim money back on everyday healthcare costs – from dental and optical care to physiotherapy and mental wellbeing support." It describes itself as "the UK's oldest and one of the largest healthcare cash plan providers", with roots "in the voluntary hospitals of Victorian Liverpool" and more than 150 years of trading behind it since 1871.

It is also a not-for-profit, and says what that means in practice: "As a not-for-profit organisation, any surpluses we generate are reinvested into our plans and services to maximise the positive impact we create." Its policies "help more than 700,000 people across the UK take a positive approach to their health", and the stated vision is "to help one million people live healthier lives. Our aim is to get there by 2030."

Where will I work?

Liverpool. "Our head office is based in One Derby Square, in the heart of Liverpool's financial district and just moments from Liverpool ONE. You'll work in bright, ultra-modern offices in a vibrant city centre location with excellent transport links." Hybrid working is listed among the benefits, though Medicash does not publish how the split between office and home is structured.

What is the Medicash team like?

Medicash frames the work in terms of purpose: "When you work at Medicash, you're part of something bigger. Every role contributes to improving lives and strengthening communities." Four values, collectively called The Medicash Way, set the day-to-day tone — Customer Focused, Do What's Right, Own It, and One Team, Always Improving.

The careers page describes a sociable and notably un-hierarchical culture: "The whole place has a feel-good factor. No single person thinks they are better than anyone else and everyone is treated as individuals." Teams come together through "seasonal parties to socials and charity events". Charitable work is not an add-on either — "The Medicash Foundation is central to our identity as a not-for-profit, purpose-driven business" — and the Foundation supports more than 100 charities a year, focused on the North West of England.

Work-Life Balance

Holiday is a "minimum 26 days per year, plus bank holidays", and hybrid working is offered. Wellbeing is treated as an in-house practice as well as a product: "We support our team's wellbeing by providing healthy snacks and regular wellbeing challenges", backed by an Employee Assistance Programme and the company's own health cash plan for everyday medical costs. Development is continuous — "We continually invest in our employees' professional development with in-house and external training." Medicash does not publish a formal flexible-hours policy.
