About Jexo

What is Jexo?

Jexo was a globally distributed Atlassian Marketplace startup creating intuitive Jira planning apps that help teams prioritize, plan, and deliver work more effectively. Founded in 2018 by co-founders Biro Florin and Nikki Závadská, the team became "well-known and respected in the Atlassian ecosystem" (verbatim Appfire blog) through high-energy digital marketing, the Monday Coffee with Jexo podcast, the PM72 Summit (the first edition drew 2,000 attendees), and a blog reaching 15,000 monthly readers.

Acquisition (Feb 1, 2023): Jexo was acquired by Appfire, the leading global software provider that enhances, extends, and connects platforms across the Atlassian, Microsoft, Salesforce, and other ecosystems. The Appfire announcement opens verbatim: "Appfire has acquired Jexo's talented team and popular cloud apps built on Atlassian Forge and Connect, expanding our capabilities in Agile planning — and they're bringing that unmistakable Jexo creativity to our ranks." Co-founders Biro and Nikki joined Appfire to "double down on that mission" of building a great workplace where the team can grow professionally and experiment with creativity.

Jexo's flagship apps live on inside Appfire:

  • Swanly — Jexo's flagship app, "built for teams and managers who need to plan and keep track of work across projects. It brings clarity, structure, and visibility to the work in Jira and is a go-to hub for planning, tracking, and reporting work there."
  • Foxly — "brings transparency and structure to any work prioritization process, identifying the most impactful tasks while bringing teams together to decide on priorities."
  • Three additional cloud apps for Atlassian Jira covering roadmapping, prioritization, status dashboards, and risk measurement.

The Appfire CEO Randall Ward framed the rationale verbatim: "This is truly a 'better together' story, and together we are poised to make a big impact. We're excited to amplify [Jexo's] creative approach to provide educational value to customers of Atlassian, Microsoft, Salesforce, Slack, and other great platforms that our products serve."

Where will I work?

Pre-acquisition Jexo was a globally distributed team — verbatim from the founder description: spread across the UK, Brazil, Mexico, India, Ukraine, and Canada. Post-acquisition, the team integrated into Appfire's broader distributed operations.

What is the Jexo team like?

Verbatim from Biro Florin (Appfire blog announcement): "Jexo as a brand grew in popularity as a result of the awesome work achieved by a team that has freedom of expression and room to experiment and grow. Having spent time with the Appfire team, we realize we share a lot in common. Appfire offers an exciting work environment and a wealth of talent." The team is "a lean startup, home to a team of curious geeks who live across the world from one another" (DB legacy description), with a culture emphasising people-first values, professional growth, and creative experimentation.

Work-Life Balance

Jexo originally announced a permanent 4-day, 32-hour work week in May 2022 (verbatim DB schedule_type_description: "In May 2022 we made our 4 day work week (32hrs) experiment permanent!"). Following the Appfire acquisition in February 2023, the team became part of Appfire and Appfire's broader work-week policy applies — the original Jexo 4-day-week schedule cannot be re-verified from a current Jexo primary source.

Perks and Benefits

The original Jexo legacy benefits package included 20 days of paid vacation plus bank holidays (averaging 32 days for current team members per DB vacation_description). Post-acquisition, benefits are administered through Appfire's global HR programmes. Contact via the Appfire careers portal: appfire.com/careers.
