Who We Are

The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience was established in 1999 and is headquartered in New York, USA. We are a dynamic global network that brings together over 300 historic sites, museums, and memory initiatives from more than 65 countries across six continents. Our organization helps institutions remember and interpret important histories that inform current social justice challenges and human rights issues.

Through our collaborative efforts, we support educational projects and community dialogue that bridge remarkable past events with the urgent need for change in the present. Our network includes former prisons, memorials, historic houses, and museums that have committed to connecting past struggles for justice with today's movements for human rights. From sites commemorating the civil rights movement in the United States to memorials addressing apartheid in South Africa, our members transform how communities understand and engage with difficult histories.

Our Team

Our team is made up of approximately 36 dedicated professionals who work from our New York office and other locations worldwide. The team's diverse backgrounds span consulting, museum education, human rights advocacy, media, administration, and international development, contributing to innovative solutions that serve our member institutions across the globe.

We combine expertise and passion in every initiative we undertake, ensuring that every project receives both creative insight and practical support. Our staff members bring multilingual capabilities and cross-cultural competencies that enable us to work effectively with partners on every continent, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across borders.
