About Honeybadger
What is Honeybadger?
Honeybadger is a developer-tools company (Honeybadger Industries LLC) building error monitoring, uptime monitoring, cron monitoring and status pages for software teams. Bootstrapped — no outside funding — and profitable since founding in 2012. Headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, but fully remote.
Where will I work?
No office. Work from home, coworking spaces, coffee shops — wherever. Honeybadger is fully remote.
What is the Honeybadger team like?
A tiny, independent team of ~32 engineers, support, and operations. From the careers page: "We're a small, private company with no outside funding, and we don't subscribe to the hustle ethic that is common to much of the technology industry."
Work-Life Balance
Honeybadger is one of the most explicit "anti-hustle" tech companies anywhere. Their commitments from honeybadger.io/careers verbatim:
- "30-hour work-weeks" — explicitly capped at 30 hours/week. (Mapped to
4_day_weekhere at Phil's request.) - "We communicate asynchronously" — verbatim.
- "real work happens in GitHub, so you can synchronize on your schedule. And it's no problem if you want to turn off Slack so you can get some deep work done."
- "We aren't interested in micro-managing employees."
- "we continue to value being able to choose what we work on and how."
- "working at a sustainable pace ... to provide an excellent service to awesome customers."
The 30-hour week is unusually direct — most async-first companies don't cap hours at all. Honeybadger does both: async communication AND reduced hours.
Perks and Benefits

- Asynchronous communication — verbatim policy.
