About High Speed Training

What is High Speed Training?

High Speed Training is an online course provider based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. Launched in 2008, it now publishes over 180 accredited courses spanning food hygiene, health and safety, safeguarding, first aid, mental health, education, health and social care, and business essentials, and says it has supported "4 million people to achieve their personal and professional goals". Its stated mission is to "create and deliver industry-leading training that makes learning and compliance straightforward, simple and engaging". Courses are accredited by the CPD Certification Service, with individual ranges assured by bodies including RoSPA and the Institute of Hospitality. Since 2023 the business has been 100% employee owned, "held in trust for the benefit of its employees".

Where will I work?

High Speed Training is remote first. In its own words: "We fully support our colleagues to work in a flexible way that lets them be at their best, whether that's on-site at either our Ilkley head office, our dedicated office space in central Leeds, at business lounges across the country or based remotely anywhere in the UK." The policy is backed with kit and cash — new starters get a £600 home office allowance, and in 2025 the company introduced a discretionary £400 annual allowance towards ongoing home-office supplies, equipment and bills.

What is the High Speed Training team like?

Four values shape the place: "we are all learners too", "we build our company together", "we are a team beyond our own four walls" and "we leave things better than we found them". Employee ownership is treated as more than a share of profit — HR Director and Trustee Jenny Wells says: "At HST, every colleague has a genuine stake in where we're headed as a company. This creates something you can't manufacture, real pride in what we build together." It has been an accredited Living Wage Employer since 2019 and voluntarily pays above the real London Living Wage. Colleague-led groups run the EDI&B committee, mental health champions and menopause champions, and a "Nine Dimensions" framework structures career development conversations.

Work-Life Balance

Colleagues receive a minimum of 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 29 days with service, with the option to purchase up to five more. Everyone has "5 days (35 hours) paid volunteering time per calendar year", and the right to request flexible working from day one of employment. A workation policy allows up to four weeks working abroad each year. The 2025 impact report also records a time-boxed experiment: the company "trialled our first experiment with a shorter working week, introducing early finish Fridays throughout August", then ran a "Festive Fridays" initiative through December after feedback showed teams valued a longer weekend.
