What is GrantTree?
GrantTree is an innovation funding consultancy that helps UK companies access R&D Tax Relief, grants, business loans, and other sources of non-dilutive financing. Founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneurs Paulina Sygulska-Tenner and Daniel Tenner, the consultancy was built "out of a desire to deliver tangible support to startups, scaleups and other innovators and to improve the ecosystem of support for these companies." It also embodied the founders'' philosophy on the future of work: "where people are trusted, valued, and treated as whole humans."
Over 15 years, GrantTree has helped clients secure more than £400 million in non-dilutive funding — from startups through publicly listed industry leaders. The service portfolio spans R&D Tax Relief, R&D Advance Funding, Innovation Grants, Grants Advance Funding, Innovation Loans, and R&D Enquiry Defence.

GrantTree''s HQ is at 145 City Road, London EC1V 1AZ. The hybrid model lets employees work from where they are most productive — including fully remote roles like the current Innovate UK Biomedical Catalyst Grant Writer position. What is the GrantTree team like?
The co-founders Paulina and Daniel exited the business in 2019. Nicky Johnson then took over as CEO with a remit to scale, before Bob Leung joined as Chairman and CEO in 2024. Bob has "over a decade of leadership experience" and is "passionate about creating self-driven teams and shaping company cultures that truly value and uplift their people. His mission is simple: to build not just great companies, but great places to work."
The current team of 30 includes Bob Leung (Chairman/CEO), Polly Duff (Customer Success Manager), Joseph Kruczkowski MEng (Product Manager), Dr Oliver Gould PhD (Senior R&D Technical Consultant), Isobelle Shorte (Business Development Executive — R&D Tax Credits), Amy Brincoveanu (Management Accountant), Nicky Attenborough (Grants Operations Lead and Head of Recruitment), Helen Gillespie (Head of Customer Success), plus Arran Raeburn, Claire Walker MBA, Dr Rhianon Jones PhD, Fahmid Uddin MEng, George Beverley, Kweku Ackom-Mensah, Lewis Songaila, Mark Wedel, Rob Kellner, Shawn Gomes, and Vish Goradia ATT MSc on the wider team. GrantTree is described as "an exceptionally talented and conscientious collective, united by a commitment to excellence and a passion for innovation."
