About Global Witness

What is Global Witness?

Global Witness is an international investigative and campaigning organisation founded in 1993. Its investigators and campaigners expose the links between natural-resource exploitation, conflict, corruption and human-rights abuses — from conflict minerals and illegal logging to the money flows that enable environmental destruction — and push governments and companies to act on the evidence.

Where will I work?

Global Witness is headquartered in London and operates a hybrid model with at least two days per week in the office.

What is the Global Witness team like?

Around 110 people work across investigations, campaigns, data, legal, communications and operations — a mission-driven, evidence-first team taking on some of the world's most powerful interests.

Work-Life Balance

Global Witness runs a genuine four-day week. In its own words: "we've formalised our shorter working week where everyone works 30 hours Monday to Thursday, with Friday off with no impact on full time salary." The organisation was also a named continuer of the UK's six-month charity-sector four-day-week pilot that concluded in 2025.
