What is Gecko?
Gecko is an engagement platform that transforms the student experience in Higher Education. Used by 150+ HE institutions worldwide, Gecko has powered "over 200 million student interactions and counting" — chatbots, live chat, cloud call centre, forms and automation, on-campus and online events, text and email campaigns, and a student portal, with deep integrations across the higher-ed stack.
Founded in 2012, Gecko has built its product around a remote-first culture and the conviction that AI is "already shaping the product and the way we work." The company is small enough that "you can see your fingerprints on it" and intentional about staying that way: "you get a lot of ownership because we're small; so your work is visible." Gecko has raised $5.9M in seed funding to date.
Where will I work?
100% remote since the team rebuilt around it years ago. Gecko spans 8 nationalities across the UK and US, with a registered office in London (England & Wales), Edinburgh as the operational headquarters, and a New York US registered office. The remote setup is described as intentional: "Gather, async habits and regular in-person time when it matters." Equipment includes the latest Apple tech for a productive home office.
What is the Gecko team like?
A 42-person team united by four values: Motivated by Change, Learning Mindset, Work as a Team, and Put Customers First. The culture description is direct: "We move quickly, but we try not to make things heavier than they need to be. We don't glorify overwork. Working patterns vary by location, but the principle is the same; sustainable pace, priorities and trust in people to do good work." The team has shared 1,055 virtual coffee intros and reports "127 average laughs shared/month" — small, tight-knit and AI-curious.
Work-Life Balance
The UK team works a 34-hour week with an optional 4-day workweek (UK only) — "we work smarter!" Time off is 33 days holiday for full-time employees (26 days for those on the 4-day week) plus UK public holidays. The workation policy lets the team combine work and vacation, working from inspiring locations.
