About Fortify Health

What is Fortify Health?

Fortify Health is a public-health nonprofit working in India that partners with flour mills to add iron, folic acid and vitamin B12 to wheat flour. Its home page states the mission "to eliminate iron-deficiency anaemia in India by making fortified wheat flour the standard, not the exception". The team page says Fortify Health "began in 2017 with a simple question", with founding support from Charity Entrepreneurship and an incubation grant from GiveWell; by 2022 it had "secured an $8.2 million grant from GiveWell to scale it", and it now reports "over 300 mill partners across 16 states" reaching "approximately 20 million people every month (as of 2026)". On the governance page the Indian programme "is implemented by Development Consortium, a society registered in India under the Societies Registration Act, 1860", while the work outside India "sits within the Players Philanthropy Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity in the United States". The team page, read on 6 November 2026, speaks of a "90+ strong team".

Where will I work?

All six live adverts on 6 November 2026 are in India. The Quality Officer advert says "We are hiring for four positions across Ranchi, Rajkot, Rudrapur, and Indore based on requirements", the Junior Quality Control Officer and the Program Officer are based in Indore, and the Quality Manager, Regulatory Affairs Officer and Data Officer adverts say only India. The company's jobs page tags the quality roles "India (On-site)", the Data Officer "India based, Remote", the Program Officer "Indore/Bhopal, India" and the Regulatory Affairs Officer "Delhi based, Remote". Each advert adds that "This role also offers remote or hybrid work options, depending on the nature of work activities". Travel is a real part of several roles: the Quality Officer advert asks for "Willingness to travel up to 50% of working days", the Program Officer for "around 60% of the time (this may include within base location)", the Regulatory Affairs Officer for "around 40% of the time (this may include within base location)" and the Quality Manager for "up to 30% of working days within India". The Junior Quality Control Officer is a laboratory role that asks for "Willingness to work from the office/laboratory as required".

What is the Fortify Health team like?

The team page presents "food technologists to public health specialists" in a "90+ strong team" organised into four divisions: Implementation, Policy, Operations and Executive. Implementation "partners with wheat flour mills across India, providing the equipment, premix and training they need to fortify their flour in line with FSSAI standards". The six adverts cover quality control and assurance (three roles), programme delivery with partner mills, regulatory affairs and data. They describe the team as "supportive and mission-driven, united by a shared commitment to improve public health through wheat fortification", and the jobs page says "You'll be trusted to own your work, given the context you need to do it well". Several adverts list experience of working in an NGO or the development sector, and of working with remote team members, as desirable.

Work-Life Balance

All six adverts carry the same benefit paragraph: "We understand that everyone works differently. Fortify Health offers flexible working hours to help you manage your time effectively and maintain a healthy work-life balance". They sit in four functions (quality, programmes, regulatory affairs and data), and the careers pages do not repeat the line. No core hours, start or finish times, weekly hours or annual leave days are stated. Four adverts ask for 30 to 60 percent travel (the Program Officer and Regulatory Affairs Officer add "this may include within base location"), so the flexibility sits alongside regular travel.
