About FMC Talent

Who We Are

FMC Talent — operating as Fairfax Management Consultants Ltd (Company No. 03870447) — is a UK technology recruitment specialist established in 1988 and headquartered in Lincoln. We were built by a team of friends who were fed up of feeling like cogs in a corporate wheel, and we set out to be everything a typical recruitment company isn't. From our Lincoln HQ (Fairfax House, 2 Henley Way, Doddington Road, LN6 3QR) and our Bristol office (7 Middle Bridge Business Park, Portishead, BS20 6PN), our team of 61 professionals connects engineering, commercial, and leadership talent with companies in four specialist sectors: Motorsport, Medical Technology, Clean Propulsion, and Smart Industry.

What We Do

We're specialists, bringing credibility, knowledge, and passion to every search we run. Our team thinks commercially — understanding where your business is now and where you want it to be in future. We're ambitious, committed, and approach each fresh challenge in a structured way that gets the job done. Above all, acting ethically is at the very heart of every action we take. Our mission is to positively impact the world, driving technological change, and delivering the very best in talent services — always with a human touch.

Work four days, get paid for five

We operate a genuine four-day work week. Verbatim from our careers page: "Work four days, get paid for five. Yes, you read that right. We work a four day week here, but you'll get paid as if you work for five." We're proud to hold a 4 Day Week Campaign Gold-standard accreditation as a four-day-week employer. We've been doing this for a few years now and we're more successful than ever — both as a business and as people.

Benefits and culture

Our benefits aren't the standard "good holiday + private healthcare + discounts" pitch. Everything below applies from day 1 — whether you've been with us 10 days or 10 years:

  • FMC Talented L&D programme — dedicated learning and development with the support and tools to create the career you want
  • Uncapped bonus scheme alongside competitive salaries; rewards and recognition for birthdays and work anniversaries
  • Mental wellbeing — free access to our EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) scheme
  • Period dignity scheme — free period products in both offices via TOTM (environmentally friendly; ~50% of the workforce is female)
  • Giving back — regular charity-partner fundraising including Snowdon climbs and 10ks; if a cause matters to you, it matters to us
  • Team getaways — weekenders in Barcelona or Bruges, escape rooms, and team celebrations

Career progression

There are four named tiers on the FMC Talent ladder: Fast-Track Recruiter (for those joining straight from A-levels), Recruiter (graduates or those with a few years of experience), 360 Account Manager (running your own business unit), and Account Manager (senior). Real examples from the team: Ryan Luckman joined as a fresh-faced graduate — "the MD described Ryan's energy as like a Labrador puppy" — and over 15 years on remains passionate about the work. Kim Longhurst stumbled across a Recruiter role a decade-plus ago and continues to thrive as one of our biggest success stories.

Hiring process

Four clear steps: (1) Apply — send your CV to [email protected]; (2) Talk to us — a quick call with our People team; (3) 1st stage — a structured chat to get to know each other ("our best advice, be yourself!"); (4) Final — interview with your future director. "Your career. It's what you make it."
