About Fastned
What is Fastned?
Fastned builds and operates a network of ultra-rapid charging stations for electric vehicles. Its About page says "Since 2012, we’ve been at the forefront of European charging infrastructure development, building and operating a rapidly growing network of iconic ultra-rapid charging stations." and "We develop our own software, we run our own station operations, and we crew our own customer support." The Senior Backend Engineer advert states "Fastned owns and operates a network of 400+ fast charging stations across 10 European countries", and the investor page reports "451 Stations in operation" and "745 Total secured locations" at the end of Q3 2026. Fastned is a public company: the Senior Backend Engineer advert opens with "Join a fast-growing, listed company with a purpose!", LinkedIn lists it as a public company with its head office at Amstelplein 44 in Amsterdam, and the Working at Fastned page says its founding office is in Amsterdam.
Where will I work?
The Working at Fastned page says "You can find Fastned offices in eight European countries, and counting. Our founding office is located in Amsterdam." Today's 39 adverts on the Recruitee board are in Amsterdam (12), Copenhagen (7), London (4), France (6), Germany (6, in Köln, München, Berlin and Leipzig, plus one field role in Northern Germany), Madrid (2) and Ghent (1). The adverts do not state a number of office days or a remote policy. The careers page lists "The opportunity to work from any of our European offices with reimbursement for work related travel expenses", and one Denmark open-application advert lists a "Work-from-anywhere policy with travel reimbursement". The Spanish roles are based in Madrid: "This role is based in Spain, where you’ll join a fun, diverse team spread across Europe." Both ask for Spanish, "You speak Spanish at native level and English on a business proficient level" for the architect and "Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English" for the expansion manager, although the adverts themselves are written in English. Some roles are field or service positions: the board includes a German-language field electrician advert, a Senior Field Operations Manager in Köln, and a Dutch-speaking customer support agent role that expects weekend availability.
What is the Fastned team like?
The careers page sums it up as "43 nationalities. 26 languages. One culture." and lists values such as "We think like builders" and "Open feedback culture", plus employee resource groups named Electric Pride, Electric Women and Electric Minds. The Bid Manager advert says "Together with 450+ colleagues from over 50 nationalities, spread across 10 countries", and LinkedIn shows "View all 490 employees". By department the live board is Network Development (17), Finance & Funding (4), Location Design (3), Commercial Team (3), Construction Management (3), Field Operations (2) and single roles in software engineering, retail, customer operations and organisational excellence, plus a few unassigned ones such as Health, Safety & Environment Officer and Risk Specialist. Many roles are senior: the Backend Engineer advert says "You have 7+ years of professional backend experience, with strong hands-on Kotlin and/or Java experience.", and the board lists Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer roles. The typical process is a recruiter call, a hiring-manager interview, a case or technical assignment and a team conversation: for engineers "Screening call with Recruiter Codility assignment and technical interview with our Senior Engineers Culture-fit conversation with the team Closing Coffee Chat with our Head of Engineering / Director of Product & Engineering".
Work-Life Balance
The Working at Fastned page says: "Does it help that we keep flexible working hours and believe in a good work life balance?" The adverts repeat it among the perks: "Other perks include flexible working hours, full travel compensation and the working gear of your choice." in the Senior Backend Engineer and Bid Manager adverts in Amsterdam, and "Other perks include flexible working hours, restaurant pass, full travel compensation, and the working gear of your choice." in the Madrid Architect and Expansion Manager adverts; the two Denmark open-application adverts carry the same line. Many adverts add "We focus on work-life balance, provide genuine work flexibility, and have family-friendly policies in place." Only seven of the 39 adverts use the hours wording itself, and the others speak only of work flexibility, so ask which arrangement applies to your team. No core hours are stated. Full-time is stated as "based on a full-time 40 hours per week (100%) employment" in a Netherlands working-student advert. Leave differs by country: "29 holidays. Additionally, we give you two mission days" in the Netherlands adverts, "25 statutory holidays + 5 Feriefridage" in Denmark and "A total of 37 holidays per year, including 5 extralegal Fastned holidays and 12 compensation days" in Belgium; the Spanish adverts do not state leave days.
