About Erste Digital
What is Erste Digital?
Erste Digital is the IT arm of Erste Group, which its website calls "the largest banking group in Central and Eastern Europe". The home page says "Erste Digital is Erste Group’s digital muscle and IT heart" and that it delivers IT solutions and services "to all Erste Group entities across CEE", covering both "run the bank" and "change the bank" work. The imprint of the legal entity, Erste Digital GmbH (registered office Vienna), states that it "is responsible for developing, implementing, supporting and servicing IT solutions for banking" and that it is also in charge of the group’s data centre operations. Its services page lists business intelligence, cyber defence, data centre and cloud operation, group rating systems, open banking, secure online payment and trading solutions. Erste Group’s press release of 1 July 2021 says "s IT Solutions Austria and Erste Group IT International will be merged and operate as Erste Digital as of 1 July 2021" and that Erste Digital’s "roots date back over 50 years to the founding of SPARDAT in 1968".
Where will I work?
The about page says the teams "operate from four vibrant cities: Vienna, Bratislava, Košice and Prague". On 6 November 2026 the Recruitee board listed 53 adverts: 29 in Bratislava, 16 in Vienna and 8 in Košice, none in Prague. Only 11 of the 53 adverts state a working model, and it is hybrid: six English adverts (five of them internship or student jobs) promise "the best of both worlds, remote and company time", four German ones "Office und Homeoffice" (English: office and home office), and a Bratislava infrastructure advert says "On-site presence with occasional business trips to Vienna required; up to 40% home office possible". Seven of the 16 Vienna adverts describe the Erste Campus with "seven restaurants and cafeterias", most mention its health centre, and the Mainframe advert alone offers help with relocation ("Visa Sponsoring").
What is the Erste Digital team like?
The careers page describes "a diverse team of 2,400+ colleagues from over 49 countries, working for customers in more than 7 markets" and a modern working environment where agile is "not just a buzzword". The adverts add interest groups and clubs ("Numerous interest groups invite you to engage with a topic"), an employee referral programme that rewards successful referrals financially, and German and English language courses in the Vienna Mainframe advert. The board mixes experienced hires (site reliability, DevOps, ETL, mainframe, ServiceNow) with entry-level paths: junior analyst roles, internships and student part-time positions. Some operations roles carry out-of-hours duties: the Bratislava DevOps advert includes "1 week on-call duty every 6 to 8 weeks" once onboarding is done, and the Vienna mainframe advert says "Occasional night or weekend duties do not deter you".
Work-Life Balance
The careers page lists, under "Time management", "Flexible working hours and sabbaticals of up to three months". The adverts repeat the flexitime wording in two languages. The Bratislava DevOps advert says "Our employees appreciate attractive career opportunities, flexible working hours and a friendly working atmosphere." The Vienna mainframe advert says "With our flexible working hours model we want to make your life less complicated. Combing the best of both worlds, remote and company time.", and four German-language Vienna adverts say "Mit unserem flexiblen Arbeitszeitmodell wollen wir dein Leben unkomplizierter machen" (English: with our flexible working hours model we want to make your life less complicated). No core hours or start and finish times are stated. The Slovak adverts’ work-life block lists a sabbatical, paternity leave, a contribution to marriage and childbirth, four extra holiday days a year, a contribution to the 3rd pillar pension and a MultiSport card, and three of the four German adverts list "Papamonat, Sabbatical, Homeoffice, Sportkurse" (English: paternity leave, sabbatical, home office, sports courses). On 6 November 2026 only 11 of the 53 live adverts carried the flexible-hours line in their own text (6 salaried roles, 5 internship or student part-time roles), so check the advert for your role and country.
