About Equal Measures 2030

What is Equal Measures 2030?

Equal Measures 2030 (EM2030) is a global coalition of feminist networks, civil society organisations, and international development partners united in achieving gender equality by 2030. The organisation describes itself as bringing "people, ideas and evidence together to make large-scale, high-performance" gender-equality advocacy a reality.

The flagship initiative is the SDG Gender Index — one of the world's most comprehensive global measures of gender equality, tracking progress across health, education, economic opportunity, political representation, and protection from violence. The live homepage publishes the stark headline numbers from the 2024 index: "0 countries are on track to achieve gender equality by 2030"; nearly 40% of countries have stagnated or declined between 2019 and 2022; 2.4 billion girls and women still live in countries with poor or very poor overall gender equality scores; 74% of SDG targets are directly or significantly reliant on gender equality.

EM2030 operates across three areas: sharing data (the SDG Gender index + advocacy tools), sharing learning (data-driven advocacy methodologies), and using collective voice to hold decision-makers accountable. The coalition has active programmes across Latin America and the Caribbean (CLADEM), Africa (FEMNET), Asia-Pacific (ARROW), Guatemala (ASOGEN), Colombia (Ruta Pacífica), Senegal (RSJ), Kenya (GROOTS), India (SAHAJ), and Indonesia (KAPAL Perempuan).

Where will I work?

EM2030 is a fully remote team with no need for relocation. Roles are open to candidates in any country where they have the right to work, with employment facilitated through Panorama Global or local Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) for compliance with local labour laws. Specific positions may require time-zone overlap with priority programme regions but the default is geographic flexibility.

What is the Equal Measures 2030 team like?

The Secretariat is a 13-person team listed publicly on the website: Aarushi Khanna, Alison Holder, Albert Motivans, Amanda Kobeissi, Aminah Jasho, Caroline Wanjiku, Cecilia Garcia, Coretta Jonah, Esme Abbott, Julisa Tambunan, Natasha Koverola Commissiong, Paula Becerra, and Tity Agbahey. The Secretariat is supported by an Advisory Body that provides guidance on executive management, financial oversight, compliance, business development, and risk mitigation.

EM2030's feminist values guide the internal culture as well as the external advocacy: the November 2023 blog post on the 4-day week framed the policy as essential to walking the talk — "Reduce working hours to 32-hours per week and make sure that what you are offering is not just compressed hours over 4 days. And of course, guarantee that there will be no loss of pay for your staff."

Work-Life Balance

EM2030 operates a 4-day work week: 32 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, with "Friday the non-working day for everyone" and no loss of pay. The policy was adopted in late 2022 (described as "over a year" old by November 2023) and explicitly avoids the compressed-hours alternative.

On top of the 4-day week, the team has 25 vacation days plus 3 cultural leave days each year (28 days total), and 6 months of paid parental leave. These are all confirmed in published job listings.
