What is Emergent?
Emergent builds an AI software-creation platform; its company info page lists "Agione Technologies Private Limited" under legal info in Bangalore. Its job adverts say "Emergent builds autonomous coding agents that replace traditional software development by generating, testing, and deploying production applications directly from plain-language intent." The careers page cites "10M+ Users Worldwide 190+ Countries 12M+ Applications Built". Emergent was founded in 2024 by twin brothers Mukund Jha (CEO) and Madhav Jha (CTO), took part in Y Combinator's Summer 2024 batch, and TechCrunch reported a $130 million Series C in July 2026 that took total funding to $230 million. The adverts name backers including Khosla Ventures, SoftBank, Lightspeed, Together, Y Combinator and Google.
Where will I work?
Almost all of the live adverts are for Bengaluru: 47 of the 52 open on 5 November 2026, with four in San Francisco and one staff engineering role listed under Emergent Labs Inc. The company info page gives a WeWork office in Marathahalli, Bangalore, and a US office on California Street in San Francisco. TechCrunch reported in July 2026 that "Emergent has about 200 employees, most of whom work in Bengaluru, with a handful in San Francisco." The Bengaluru adverts describe in-person work: one says "We work together, in person, at our office in Bangalore. That's on purpose.", another says the role is "based in our Bengaluru office, working in-person with the team", and several ask for candidates "Based in Bangalore, or willing to relocate". The one remote-leaning exception is a staff engineering advert that describes a "Flexible, high-ownership, remote-friendly environment".
What is the Emergent team like?
The careers page says "We're building the team that wins the web" and lists what to expect: weekly releases, direct founder mentorship, full product ownership from day one, and an elite team of Google, Amazon and IIT/IIM alumni. The adverts describe it the same way: "The team is built by repeat founders, Olympiad medalists, IIT & IIM alumni, and leaders from Google, Amazon, and Dropbox." Nearly half of the roles open now are in growth and marketing (24 of 52), with 14 in engineering and the rest in design, HR, analytics, finance, legal and the founder's office. The pace is described as fast: several adverts look for people who thrive "in fast-moving environments", and two ask for people who are comfortable in zero-to-one settings. The adverts are written in English.
Work-Life Balance
The benefits block in the adverts reads "Flexible Working Hours: Work arrangements that fit your life and commitments" and sits next to "Unlimited Paid Time Off: Take the time you need to recharge and come back refreshed". The flexible hours line appears in 41 of the 52 adverts, across analytics, design, engineering, finance, legal, growth and marketing and the founder's office, in India and in the US. It does not say who sets the hours or whether it covers when or where you work, and no core-hours window, start and finish times or weekly hours are stated; the Bengaluru adverts describe in-person work. Two sales development adverts add an employee-side expectation, "Flexibility to align working hours with North American and European business hours based on active campaigns", so hours can shift with the territory. The careers page lists "Unlimited PTO Flexible time off with no preset limits". We found no employee-review data to show how this works in practice.
