About Elmy
What is Elmy?
Elmy is a French green-energy company based in Lyon, supplying 100% renewable electricity to households and businesses and operating across the electricity value chain — from supply through to its own generation. Founded in 2015 (legal entity BCM Energy; formerly Wattvalue / Elmy Énergie), it frames its mission around making the energy transition simple and worthwhile: "prise de tête minimum, impact et rentabilité maximum."
Beyond supplying green electricity sourced in France, Elmy self-produces renewable power from six photovoltaic rooftops and solar parks, generating around 700 MWh a year, and emphasises transparent billing — it says a notably high 35% of the bill flows directly to renewable producers and the transition, far above the standard. It also runs "Cols Verts", letting partner employers offer their own staff green electricity at preferential rates. The company is recognised in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes "Impact 40" cohort of high-impact businesses.
Where will I work?
Elmy is headquartered in central Lyon and works on a hybrid basis. Under its four-day week, staff have a single mandatory on-site day — they can work three days remotely, one day in the office, and take the fifth day off. The day off is chosen between Wednesday and Friday and fixed within each team's schedule for the year.
What is the Elmy team like?
Elmy employs around 100 people (Apollo estimates close to 190 as it grows), with a young profile — the average age is about 31. The four-day week has been a powerful recruitment magnet: the company hired 60 people between May and December after launching it, and the number of spontaneous applications doubled. CHRO Camille Darde sums up the culture: "Sur 4 jours, les équipes travaillent moins mais mieux !" (over four days, teams work less but better).
Work-Life Balance
Elmy moved to a four-day week on 1 September 2022. Managers went from 39 to 35 hours a week and other staff from 35 to 32, with pay maintained in full — "Tous restent payés à 100%." According to Camille Darde, "la productivité ne baisse pas car les collaborateurs optimisent leur temps" (productivity doesn't fall because staff optimise their time), and client satisfaction has held steady.
