About dxw
What is dxw?
dxw is a digital agency that works on public services. Its careers page says "Joining us means you'll work on projects that make a difference", with examples from helping schools to save money to improving services for social housing residents. Its teams "bring together people from across the digital professions: Advisory, Engineering, Data, Design, Research, Product, Delivery, Technical operations." The Dextrous Web Ltd trades as dxw and is registered in England and Wales, and the site dates its copyright from 2008. It says it won "Computing magazine's Best Place to work in Digital Award (SME category) 2022".
Who owns it?
Its Employee owned page says "dxw is owned by the people who work here". It explains that "Being employee owned means we are genuinely independent. We've done things a bit differently and incorporated our mission into our trust deeds. So dxw must be run in the interests of the people who use the services we build, as well as our employees." A Board of Trustees provides oversight: "Our Trustees include employee trustees voted for by staff, external trustees who bring wider industry expertise and challenge, and our founder." Its careers page adds that, because it is employee owned, "you'll have a stake in our success and can play a part in shaping how we do things."
Where will I work?
Its careers page says "We work remotely from home, or you can choose to work from our co-working spaces in Leeds or London for some or all of the time. Sometimes we co-locate with our clients." Its three open postings, for a Service Designer, an Interaction Designer and a Content Designer, give the location as "Anywhere in the UK, with some national travel required to meet teams and clients. Office locations are London and Leeds." Its London address is The Lighthouse, 368 Gray's Inn Road, and its Leeds address is Studio 1.05c, 4 The Boulevard, which is also its registered office.
What is the dxw team like?
Its careers page says "We want everyone who works at dxw to feel that they belong here" and "Even if you don't feel fully qualified for any of our positions, don't let that put you off applying." It says "We trust you to do your job well, and are here to support you when you need it" and "Career development is a real thing at dxw. Our line managers are here to give you guidance and advice tailored to your interests and goals." It says it is "Living Wage accredited and Disability Confident". Its salaries are open: "Our salaries and other benefits are shared in our job ads", and the three open roles state £44,000 to £50,000, £40,000 to £46,000 and £42,000 to £48,000 for a 37.5-hour week.
Work-Life Balance
Its careers page lists "28 days holiday plus bank holidays", which with the eight bank holidays of England is 36 days a year, and each posting repeats it. It adds "Flexible working to support your wellbeing and personal commitments" and "Up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave depending on your situation". On working hours it says "We only work out of hours if there's a pressing or short-term problem. Because fresh, happy teams provide the best service for clients." Its postings state a "37.5 hour week".
