About Deligo
What is Deligo?
Deligo is the marketing name of Deligo Vision Technologies Ltd., a Budapest company that builds AI-powered self-checkout kiosks. Its home page says "Deligo is an AI-powered self-checkout for food service & convenience retail", and its about page calls it "a technology company on a mission to make checkout faster, simpler, and more enjoyable". Shoppers place items on the kiosk, products are recognised visually and the customer taps a card to pay, with no barcode scanning. The adverts say Deligo builds "AI-powered self-checkout systems, with around 1,000 devices already deployed internationally" and is "trusted by global brands like Compass, Sodexo, Marks & Spencer, and Spar". The idea came from its founders queuing at a canteen in 2019; Vestbee reports that the company was co-founded by two brothers and raised a $3 million round led by Frontline Ventures in May 2024, and the about page says it is "backed by great investors like Frontline Ventures and Portfolion".
Where will I work?
Deligo is based in Budapest. Its adverts describe the work location as "Location: Budapest - we operate with an office-first approach", typically requiring three to four office days a week (the customer-support adverts say four office days). The office is described as "A spacious, shiny, dog-friendly office in the heart of Budapest with great transport, tasty snacks, and vibrant team events". The roles are permanent contracts listed as hybrid, and the start date is "As soon as you are ready". Some customer-facing roles also involve travel to customer sites; the support adverts put it at around 20-30% of the time, mainly across the EU, UK and US.
What is the Deligo team like?
The adverts describe "a tight-knit team of curious, passionate and ambitious builders who take pride in our craft and value trust in everything we do". The team is small: Vestbee counted 18 people in May 2024 and Built In lists 30 employees, while the Customer Success advert says that team is "currently consisting of 2 people" and the Head of Software Engineering role would lead "a small, experienced engineering team". The offer lists "A collaborative, creative, and transparent culture where contributions are recognized" and "Real influence on how our products and processes evolve, with freedom to innovate", and the roles are pitched as early-stage positions in a fast-scaling startup. Teams named across the adverts include Product, Engineering, Core ML, Hardware, Operations, QA and Customer Success.
Work-Life Balance
The hours wording is a standing line in the offer section of the adverts: "Flexible working hours and hybrid approach" (Customer Success & Service Delivery Lead, Strategic Buyer) and "Flexible working hours and a hybrid approach" (Integrations Engineer, Deployment Coordinator), covering operations, hardware and engineering roles. No core hours, weekly hours or leave allowance are published. Work is office-first, so the flexibility sits alongside three to four office days a week. Support roles are different: the French- and German-speaking customer support adverts ask for "Willingness to work flexible hours, including shift coverage between 8:00–18:00, as well as participating in an on-call rotation a few times a month outside of core hours", and the website advertises a support team that is "on call around the clock", so flexibility there means covering shifts rather than choosing your own hours.
