What is Deerns?
Deerns is an independent engineering consultancy for the technical systems inside buildings. One of its own adverts calls it "an independent engineering firm" that "specializes in consultancy, design and implementation supervision in the fields of installation engineering, building physics, energy supply and sustainability", for buildings from offices and airports to hospitals and data centres. The about page says its growth "started in 1928 as a local engineering consultancy", and one Indian advert says "We have 750+ employees across 17 offices in 10 countries" and two Dutch adverts say "ruim 750 medewerkers" (other Indian adverts say 600+ and 700+; read on 6 November 2026). Deerns Groep B.V. has its registered office at Anna van Buerenplein 21F in The Hague. On 6 November 2026 the group's Recruitee board listed 81 live adverts, almost all for engineers and advisers (electrical, mechanical, fire safety, building physics, BIM, project management, cost management) plus two Dutch internships.
Where will I work?
The Netherlands is the biggest hiring country on the board (28 of 81 adverts: The Hague 24, Groningen 2, Eindhoven 1, Zwolle 1), followed by Italy (17, Milan and Rome), India (11, Thane), France (10, Paris), Brazil (7, São Paulo), Portugal (4, Lisbon) and Spain (4, Madrid; the Spanish adverts also name Barcelona). Hybrid working is stated in the Dutch, Spanish and Brazilian adverts, the Italian adverts say "Potrai lavorare da remoto 2 giorni a settimana" (you can work remotely 2 days a week) or mention smart working, and the Indian, French and Portuguese adverts state no work pattern, so the rules are set per country. The Dutch adverts say "Hybride werken, waarbij je de mogelijkheid hebt om afwisselend thuis en op kantoor in Den Haag te werken" (hybrid working, alternating between home and the office in The Hague), the São Paulo adverts expect office presence "pelo menos 2 vezes por semana" (at least twice a week), and the Madrid adverts offer "opción de teletrabajo (modelo híbrido)" (a remote-work option, hybrid model). The Dutch adverts add that "je reiskosten worden 100% vergoed op basis van OV" (your travel costs are reimbursed in full on a public-transport basis).
What is the Deerns team like?
Teams are organised around engineering disciplines inside market units such as Real Estate, Data Centres, Airports, Life Sciences and Building Performance. The Dutch adverts describe core teams of roughly 5 to 24 colleagues and a Real Estate unit of about 40, inside an organisation of "ruim 750 medewerkers" (more than 750 employees). The careers page describes "a leading engineering consultancy with an international focus", and its annual in-house programme, the Deerns Concept Studio, is "where you immediately build up an international network". The Spanish adverts call Deerns "una organización centrada en las personas" (a people-centred organisation). Five core values are listed on the Working at Deerns page under the acronym CEDRIC: Competence, Entrepreneurship, Design Reputation, Integrity and Cooperation.
Work-Life Balance
Flexible hours are stated in the benefits line of the adverts, in four languages. The Dutch adverts for engineers and advisers say "flexibele werkuren, 33 vakantiedagen en mogelijkheid tot aankopen van extra dagen" (flexible working hours, 33 vacation days and the possibility of buying extra days), two Dutch internship adverts say "Flexibele werktijden", the Eindhoven English advert says "flexible working hours, 33 vacation days and the possibility of purchasing additional days", the Spanish adverts say "Flexibilidad horaria y opción de teletrabajo (modelo híbrido)", and the Brazilian adverts list "Horário Flexível" among their benefits. On the 6 November 2026 board that is 37 of 81 adverts: Netherlands 27, Brazil 7, Spain 3. No core-hours window is stated. 23 of the 28 Dutch adverts also say "Een functie van 32-40 uur per week" (a position of 32-40 hours per week), 22 of them adding "met een bijpassend salaris" (with a matching salary); only the Projectmanager Datacenters advert gives a pay basis, "op basis van 40 uur per week" (based on 40 hours a week), so the weekly hours are set per role rather than as a company-wide schedule. Leave is stated only in the Dutch and Eindhoven adverts: 33 vacation days, with the possibility of buying additional days.
