What is Crioestaminal?
Crioestaminal is one of Portugal's leading stem-cell banks. Founded in 2003 and based at Biocant Park in Cantanhede, it specialises in the collection, processing and cryopreservation of umbilical-cord blood and tissue stem cells, and is one of the country's most established biotech / health-science companies.

Cantanhede, in central Portugal (near Coimbra), at the Biocant biotechnology park.
What is the Crioestaminal team like?
Around 50 people across laboratory and processing, quality, science, customer care and commercial functions.
Work-Life Balance
Crioestaminal took part in Portugal's 2023 government 4-day-week pilot and decided to keep the model. It runs a rotating four-day week: staff alternate a 32-hour, four-day week with a 40-hour, five-day week (averaging ~36 hours), with no loss of pay or benefits. Management reports productivity held steady and staff are more motivated.
