About Cooptimize
What is Cooptimize?
Cooptimize is a worker cooperative consulting firm specialising in Microsoft business-intelligence technology — Power BI, Dynamics 365, data warehousing and analytics. Their own words capture the model: "Cooptimize is a worker cooperative – structurally different than most companies. Traditionally a company has three types of stakeholders – owners, managers, and workers. In a worker cooperative, everyone takes on all three of those personas. Shares don't vote; people vote. Everyone makes decisions. Consensus and autonomy both have importance."
The firm sells Fractional Data Teams — ongoing, transparent-priced engagements (0.5 to 4 days per week per resource, $3,375 to $23,550/month based on level and focus days) — alongside fixed-price packages: a $10k Power BI Starter Pack, a $10k BI Architecture & Roadmap, and a $20k Enterprise Data Architecture. The company is based in Austin, Texas.
Where will I work?
Cooptimize is fully remote within the USA (DB confirms). Clients engage on a "Focus Time™" model — efficient, distraction-free collaboration on the same day(s) every week — so the work pattern is predictable. Customers come from organisations using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI for reporting, analytics and business operations.
What is the Cooptimize team like?
A small, distributed worker-owned consultancy where everyone has a vote in decisions and a share of the profits. The team is structured around three levels — Consultant, Senior Consultant, Lead Consultant — with fully transparent salary schedules that anyone can see on the careers page. The base structure: Company Minimum Wage $85,000 for any full-time employee, plus escalators for knowledge (certifications: +$1k–$3k), Microsoft BI experience (+$5k for 1 year up to +$22,500 for 3+ years), level (+$15k Senior, +$35k Lead), and worker-ownership (+$10k).
The culture rules: profit share for everyone from their first quarter, an 85/15 split (85% to workers, 15% to a Worker Development Fund), and 12-quarter profit payouts to manage cash flow and encourage long-term focus. New employees reach parity with longer-tenured same-level colleagues after three years.
Five values: Transparent Salaries ("Everyone gets paid from the same salary schedule. If the formula is wrong, we all have a voice in changing it"), Profit Sharing, Whole Family Benefits, 4-Day Work Weeks ("We value focus, automation, and efficiency. Most importantly we value a sustainable work environment") and Democracy at Work ("decisions are made under the principles of finding consensus and one person one vote. Seriously.").
Work-Life Balance
Cooptimize operates 4-day, 32-hour work weeks with predictable Focus Days. Quoting their own homepage: "Stress-Free Zone / From 32-hour work weeks, to profit sharing, to consent-based decision making. We strive to be the best place to work!" There's also explicit "No post-employment restrictions, such as non-solicit or non-compete agreements." PTO is generous: 5 weeks + 2 hours, with 1 week accrued on day one, and accrued PTO paid out on departure.
