What is Codeway?
Codeway builds consumer AI apps. Its home page says "Codeway builds consumer AI apps that hundreds of millions of people actually use." and "600M+ Downloads. 60+ Apps. Bootstrapped." The adverts add "Completely bootstrapped. No board. Profitable since year two.", and the Chief of Staff adverts say "Codeway started in 2020 as a small team in Istanbul to build apps people would actually enjoy using." The company has since organised itself into "six focused verticals and one shared HQ" according to the home page: Wishlabs (AI creativity), Wellture (wellness), Learna (language learning), Sparked (education), Cosmic Jam (media) and Catalyst Apps (utility and productivity). On 6 November 2026 the home page showed "400+" as the size of its team of builders.
Where will I work?
Codeway works from two cities. The home page says "Built across two cities." and names Barcelona and İstanbul, and the Chief of Staff adverts say "We recently started a new global HQ in Barcelona and reorganised into verticals". The candidate privacy notice names "Codeway Dijital Hizmetler Anonim Şirketi and Codeway Barcelona SL" as the data controllers for applications, with request addresses in Şişli, Istanbul and "Avenida de Roma, 81 (Estel Building), 08029 Barcelona, Spain". The board held 18 adverts on 6 November 2026, nine in Barcelona and nine in Istanbul. Both cities have an office: the adverts say "A Top-Notch Office. In the iconic Edifici Estel, right in the heart of Barcelona." and "A Top-Notch Office. Located at the heart of Istanbul, right next to Levent Metro Station at Ferko Signature." The IT Support Specialist advert says "This is an onsite role, based in our Barcelona office." and the Chief of Staff adverts list "You'd rather work mostly remote." under "This probably isn't the right role if:". The Ashby board marks 16 of the 18 adverts Hybrid (including that IT Support one) and the two Istanbul HR Operations adverts OnSite, and no advert gives a number of office days.
What is the Codeway team like?
The adverts say "Small teams move faster than big ones." and the home page says "Small teams. Full ownership. No investors. So, no permission needed." The Chief of Staff adverts are candid about the pace: "Codeway is a demanding place. We're ambitious, we hold ourselves and each other to a high bar, and this role asks for significant commitment." The live roles cover HR operations, data and platform engineering, a senior backend developer who speaks Turkish, performance-marketing growth managers, marketing artists, a product manager for new ventures, accounting, legal counsel, IT support and a chief of staff. Twelve of the 18 adverts list hiring steps and the steps differ by advert: the six Istanbul adverts that list steps all include a case study, a talent and culture interview, a technical interview and a reference check, while the six Barcelona ones vary (the Associate/Mid Growth Manager advert lists a recruiter interview, a hiring manager interview, a case study, a technical interview and an offer).
Work-Life Balance
The Istanbul adverts carry the headline benefit "Flexible Schedule & Unlimited Vacations." and explain it: "We care about your productivity, not tracking every minute you’re on site. It’s up to you to always be responsible with your work, no matter where you are or what schedule you’re keeping." The Barcelona adverts say "Flexible Schedule. We care about your impact, not about tracking your minutes." Eight of the nine Istanbul adverts carry the unlimited-vacations line; the Barcelona adverts do not mention vacation at all, and the Istanbul Chief of Staff advert lists neither. No number of days, core hours or weekly hours are stated anywhere. The Chief of Staff adverts add that "Codeway is a demanding place.", and Glassdoor could not be read, so the work-life reputation is unchecked.
