About CMG Technologies

What is CMG Technologies?

CMG Technologies is the UK's leading Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) producer, registered as Company No. 4409200 in England (VAT GB187644856) and headquartered at Unit I1, Thompson Drive, Base Business Park, Rendlesham, Woodbridge, Suffolk, IP12 2TZ. The company is part of the IndoMIM Group.

For over 25 years CMG has supplied injection-moulded components to the medical, aerospace, automotive and industrial sectors — and has now spent "almost 50 years of strategic and innovative decisions" at the forefront of MIM technology (CMG celebrated its 50-year milestone in May 2025). The team is ISO9001-2015 accredited and Cyber Essentials PLUS certified — the highest level within the UK Government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme.

CMG is the only MIM company in the UK to facilitate the complete MIM process in-house — from tool design and build, through compounding the feedstock, to final sintering. Beyond MIM, the company also produces its own range of Fibre Optic Components and has an R&D division focused on sinterable metal and ceramic 3D printing led by Dr Samuel Wilberforce. Featured client work includes Servomex's Hummingbird Paracube oxygen sensor (used in COVID-19 ventilators), DTR Medical (cervical biopsy punch; MediWales Innovation Award 2012), and BSA Guns air-rifle components.

Where will I work?

From CMG's modern Woodbridge facility — a high-spec, fully equipped production environment with an in-house toolroom. The work is hands-on manufacturing rather than remote office work, though the team balances collaboration with flexibility.

What is the CMG team like?

CMG's culture is "more like that of a family — every member of staff is involved in key decisions." The senior team includes Dr Phil Marsh (Technical and Production Director; PhD metallurgy and materials science; joined 2000 and co-led the 2013 MBO), Rachel Garrett (Managing Director; named in the Timewise Power List 2022 of successful UK part-timers), Rob Kirk (General Manager; joined September 2022 with 20+ years operations experience), Mark Leonard (Technical Sales Manager; joined 2023 with 25+ years engineering experience), Dr Samuel Wilberforce (R&D Head 3D Printing; PhD Materials Science), and a long-tenured operations team including Holley Lockwood, Orsi Batka, Phil Grimmer, Mariusz Lechowicz, plus named Shift Leaders, Toolroom and Quality Control staff. The workforce is "very experienced, long serving and loyal" with the calibre of team pivotal to CMG becoming the MIM supplier of choice.

Work-Life Balance

CMG introduced a four-day week in 2015 — verbatim from the team page: "Full time hours are 35 a week and each employee works their hours within four-days. We operate a 7-day working week but we have teams who stagger their shifts within this period. This has led to an increase in efficiency as our staff are able to maximise their focus and productivity." Working fewer days means staff can make the most of time with family and loved ones.

Perks and Benefits

From the Culture & Careers and Meet The Team pages:

  • 4-day week — implemented in 2015; full-time = 35 hours/week across 4 days
  • Profit-sharing scheme — "we regularly review pay and have introduced a profit-sharing scheme so everyone benefits"
  • Apprenticeships and qualifications supported — Level 2 Engineering Operative (Ronnie Lockwood), Business Administration Level 3 (Holley Lockwood), NEBOSH General Certificate (Orsi Batka), tooling apprenticeship + HND (James Fisk)
  • In-house production environment including high-spec fully-equipped toolroom
  • Regular social events — "we regularly look for opportunities to have fun outside of work to socialise and relax"
