About ClickHouse
What is ClickHouse?
ClickHouse describes itself as "the fastest and most resource efficient real-time data warehouse and open-source database," and now positions itself as "the leading database for AI — powering agentic systems with millisecond queries at petabyte scale." Its job ads put the market scope plainly: "ClickHouse leads the market in real-time analytics, data warehousing, observability, and AI workloads."
The technology predates the company. "Work on ClickHouse began in 2009 with the vision of being the fastest OLAP database on earth," started by "Alexey Milovidov and team… determined to generate analytical reports in real-time from non-aggregated data." It was released as open source under the Apache 2 licence in 2016, and today has "over 42,000 stars on GitHub." The company itself came later: "2021 — ClickHouse, Inc. incorporates in Delaware, with our headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area." It was co-founded by Aaron Katz (CEO), Alexey Milovidov (CTO) and Yury Izrailevsky (President).
Growth has been steep. A $250M Series B established a $2B valuation, a $350M Series C followed in 2025, and in January 2026 ClickHouse "announced… the close of its Series D financing, raising $400 million," led by Dragoneer, alongside the acquisition of Langfuse. In May 2026 the company reported that "ClickHouse's serverless cloud offering has crossed over $250 million in annual run-rate revenue — more than triple a year ago — and added more than 1,000 net new customers since January, bringing its total to 4,000." Customers named publicly include Meta, Tesla, Sony, Capital One, Airwallex, Lyft, Instacart and Anthropic.
Where will I work?
ClickHouse is "a globally distributed company and remote-friendly," and says "we currently operate in over 20 countries." Its footer lists offices in the Bay Area, California and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Most openings are remote — many say "this role can be located anywhere ClickHouse has a hiring presence" — but it is remote-friendly rather than remote-only, and a small number of roles are explicitly Bay Area hybrid. Check the individual posting.
What is the ClickHouse team like?
The company calls itself "mindfully distributed," adding that "being distributed isn't a way of doing business. It's a mindset." Hiring spans engineering, cloud infrastructure, product, support, sales and developer relations, and ClickHouse was "recognized on the 2025 Forbes Cloud 100 list."
Work-Life Balance
ClickHouse is not a reduced-hours employer, and publishes no four-day-week or compressed-hours policy. Its work-life proposition is geographic freedom rather than shorter weeks: a distributed team across 20+ countries, with roles that are not office-based.
On time off, ClickHouse's own and only statement is "Flexible time off in the US, generous entitlement in other countries." It does not publish a day count, so if a specific entitlement matters to you, ask during the process rather than assuming a number.
