About Causeway Irish Housing Association
What is Causeway Irish Housing Association?
Causeway Irish Housing Association is a London-based specialist housing association and Community Benefit Society founded in 1986. The charity was originally established with just two houses to provide low-cost shared housing for young Irish migrants seeking work in London. Today, Causeway is proudly the largest provider of LGBT supported housing in the United Kingdom and owns or manages 250 units of shared and self-contained housing across 10 London boroughs.
The organisation provides housing to single people on low incomes who are at risk of homelessness, with specialist supported services for unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people, people who identify as LGBTQ, and people with mental-health or addiction support needs. Tenants are also supported through Lifeskills and Wellbeing programmes to develop independence, education, training, and employment opportunities.
Where will I work?
Causeway's office is at the Haringey Irish Cultural & Community Centre, Pretoria Road, London N17 8DX. The team works a hybrid pattern — combining office work, visits to client homes (tenant properties), community-based work across the 10 London boroughs Causeway operates in, and home-based working as appropriate to the role.
What is the Causeway team like?
Causeway is a small but mission-driven team. The work spans housing operations, tenant support, asylum-seeker advocacy, LGBTQ-specific provision, and community programming. Front-line roles include housing officers, support workers, and tenancy management; back-office roles include finance, HR, fundraising, and policy. The approach is asset-based — building on tenants' skills and strengths to overcome the trauma, isolation, mental health issues, or addictions that often accompany homelessness.

Causeway is a 4-day-week employer: employees work 32 hours over 4 days per week. The combination of office, client-home, community, and home-based working gives meaningful flexibility across the working week. Causeway is a London Living Wage employer.
