About Caravelo
What is Caravelo?
Caravelo is a Barcelona-based travel-tech company that sells subscription software to airlines and other travel companies. Its careers page calls it "a travel-tech company with a global team and roots in Barcelona that specializes in subscriptions", and its ads say it builds "the technology behind airline subscription products used by carriers around the world, combining SaaS, payments, booking systems and airline integrations in one platform". The Company page says the business "started life in 2010 as Change Your flight", a project by two friends, and that after 2020 it focused exclusively on subscriptions. A September 2023 press release says Caravelo was founded in 2015 by Iñaki Uriz and José Luis Vilar, closed a 3.5M EUR Series A round led by Samaipata with Adara Ventures and existing investors, and has worked with more than 20 airlines, including Volaris, Alaska Airlines and Wizz Air.
Where will I work?
The six live ads on the Personio board are all listed under the Barcelona (HQ) office and are written in English. The Company page says the team of "approximately 50 people from +20 different countries" is "partly based in our Barcelona HQ and partly spread out all over the world, from Chile to Malaysia", and the careers page lists a "Spacious office in the heart of Barcelona with free coffee & beer". Three of the ads describe a Barcelona-based hybrid model with four office days and one day working from home; the developer ad says "Hybrid work model with a vibrant Barcelona office" and the internship ads say "Barcelona-based hybrid working environment", without a day count. The careers page also lists "Flexible hours & Remote work options".
What is the Caravelo team like?
The live roles sit mostly in the Professional Services and Customer Operations teams that implement the platform for each airline: a Customer Solutions Engineer (Java / Full Stack), a Full Stack Developer focused on the back end, a Technical Project Manager for customer implementations and two paid internships, one in customer support and one in technical QA. The Full Stack Developer ad expects daily use of AI coding assistants, naming "Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and similar". The Company page describes a culture "based on curiosity, passion, honesty, dependability and a special sauce that we call S(illy)eriousness", and the careers page lists values such as "Extreme Ownership" and "Open Innovation". The ads say hiring "usually takes around 3-4 weeks from application to offer and includes five stages", ending with a founder interview.
Work-Life Balance
Five of the six live ads, spanning engineering, project management, customer support and QA, list "Flexible working hours." under "What we offer". The Full Stack Developer ad goes further with "Flexible working hours and locations for a healthy work-life balance", and the support internship adds that the flexibility applies "within the agreed internship schedule". The sixth ad, an open application, repeats the same line. No core hours or start and finish times are stated, and the ads do not say how many hours make up the working week. Annual leave is given as "23 days of annual leave" in three ads and "23 days holiday" in the developer ad; the ads do not say whether public holidays are on top of that.
